to think that if a product has been 'withdrawn' from sale, then Tescos should take it off the shelf?!

I sashay into Tescos the other day and fling a Christmas craft kit in the trolley for my dd. When I get to the check-out, I'm not allowed to buy it - it's been withdrawn from sale since it's not safe for some reason. This was Monday. The floor walker vanished with it, I assumed to tell a manager or maybe even clear the shelf.

Today I popped in to buy some tights for a work do tomorrow night. A wee devil taps me on the shoulder and I see the same craft kit on the shelf. At the self-service counter, the till tells me that it's been withdrawn.

So three days later, it's still on the shelf. I know it's a busy time of year, but they're actually wasting shelf space by holdig stock they're banned from selling. AIBU to think they should get their act into gear??

No YANBU at all. That is quite disturbing actually because I don't doubt that at least one of these kits has slipped through the net and been bought by someone in those 3 days. I would complain asap about this.

Which kit was it by the way I have a few to do in the hols hope it isn't one of them.

Maybe it is a weird conspiracy by TESCO's just so that 'you' can't buy it, but everybody else can.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 14/12/2007 09:58

they should remove it from the shlves.

but one wont sli[p through unless it gets pinched as the computer system will stop the item going through the till. when scanned it will beep up on their screen as withdrawn from sale.

I would also let trading standards know

It's a 'paint a window decoration' with poster paints included so it's not for a very young toddler/child - my dd is 7. I don't think anyone can actually buy it since the till refused to process the transactions but it's worrying it's still on the shelf if it's not safe. I think that I'll pop back to Tescos tonight to have a word with a floor manager .

i'd imagine they're waiting for someone from Head office to alter the computers.

Its like when stock come up "not on file" any changes take a few days to come through.

If you're concerned though, go talk to customer services in the store.
