Mine would be Anne. She is a machine and seems to know everything about everything! I would probably pack up and go home right there and then as soon as she came out and sat down.

Who is that chaser? The woman presenter is different as well. How brilliant that they won so much money!

I think I read that like Darragh on The Chase UK, that chaser was a former contestant on the show and was so good he was offered a role.

Paul was on absolutely incredible form when I was on and mullered us in the final chase.

ScienceSensibility · 14/11/2021 00:27

Paul Sinha is the best chaser. He has been British Quiz Champion very recently

I wouldn’t be scared of him though, as I find he is very respectful of the contestants, and always finds something pleasant to say.

As an aside, the contestants seem to be getting worse over time. I genuinely have no idea how they put themselves forward for a tv quiz show when their general knowledge is so lamentable.

WeasilyPleased · 14/11/2021 00:48

I love Anne. She's my favourite. Jenny would scare me as she's ruthless.

FoxyAunty · 14/11/2021 00:51

Quick NC for this thread … and they I’ll go back to my normal one.

Jenny is my niece … and she’s lovely - not at all scary ..lol

This is true. If you watch old quiz shows on YouTube or Challenge TV from around the 80s to the mid 90s the difference is really noticable.

“noticable” 🙄😶

@FoxyAunty

I hoped for Jenny - she seems lovely.

@ScienceSensibility

They choose people for entertainment value - I do t personally agree but a lot of people like to watch other’s tank.

In my audition there were some people who got through who were objectively awful.

On my show only two of us got through to the final chase - the other two crashed out on really easy questions.

I also missed some easy questions in the final chase. The pressure is unexpectedly off putting and the whole studio set up makes you feel dazzled.

Absolutely fab day out though.

Absolutely fab day out though

Can I ask you to elaborate on this, please @Merryoldgoat?

I know people always say it to Bradley and I’m always intrigued as to what goes on! I always imagined that the studio is pretty hectic with multiple games being shot in a day and people being rushed around, but would love to hear more about how the contestants are treated.

GrandTheftWalrus · 14/11/2021 10:44

I'd love to go on the chase. But I know I'd be shit at the questions in the studio.

Merryoldgoat · 14/11/2021 10:44

Well, it’s hard to explain why - more a feeling but I’ll try.

They start by collecting you from the station all together and that’s your ‘team’ and then after the security stuff (handing in phone etc) you go to a room and have a production team with you all the time.

The time is basically spent getting the team to gel, making you relaxed, feeding you etc.

You play some fake goes of the game to make sure you understand the rules. They get you excited about which chaser it might be (genuinely a surprise) and the the wardrobe lady comes to look at the clothes you brought and they decide what you should wear.

After a couple of hours of all that you get some time alone in a dressing room. You might see some famous people (I saw Russell Kane down a corridor).

Then you go to the studio. The floor manager was lovely and we got to laugh a lot during filming between takes.

I got very excited by the buzzer and it took several goes before I stopped squealing each time I pressed it.

Honestly, written down it sounds really pedestrian but it was masses of fun.

Merryoldgoat · 14/11/2021 10:47

Also three are shot on a day and it’s very slick.

The team shooting first thing do all of their prep the night before I think and go straight into filming.

The team shooting second do their prep and intros whilst team 1 is filming.

The team shooting last start around 11 and do their prep whilst team 2 is filming and are done by 4/5 ish iirc (I was in the last team to film).

They genuinely treat you very nicely.

iklboo · 14/11/2021 10:49

I got The Beast when I was on. My heart was in my boots when he walked out.

bubblicious3 · 14/11/2021 10:51

I would say similar to @Merryoldgoat - I really enjoyed it. Tho mine was a Covid one, so the restrictions were a bit of a pain. I stayed the night before as we had to be in Studio at 7am. I was sad there was no hair or makeup help, so I don't know what I will look like. My other team members were nice and the crew were very friendly

SweeneyToddler · 14/11/2021 11:02

Thanks @Merryoldgoat.

Did you keep in touch with any of your teammates? Did any take the lower offer? I think I’d struggle to welcome someone back if they did that!

ParkheadParadise · 14/11/2021 11:12

😂😂😂😂

ParkheadParadise · 14/11/2021 11:13

Sorry meant to tag @Merryoldgoat

Merryoldgoat · 14/11/2021 11:14

No one took lower offer but only two of us got back so there wasn’t a massive pot.

I nearly took the higher offer but decided against it. The Chaser was very nice about us even when we lost.

Didn’t stay in touch but not through any animosity. We were just a very different group.

Mine was pre-covid but you have to go with a fair bit of makeup on so they aren’t starting from scratch - the pack said ‘makeup like you’re going out for the night’ so I looked quite overdone for 8.30am!

GrandTheftWalrus · 14/11/2021 11:16

Sounds very exciting!

Merryoldgoat · 14/11/2021 11:16

Honestly - getting a buzzer that says your name was ridiculously exciting.

iklboo · 14/11/2021 13:31

@Merryoldgoat - yes I felt very weird travelling down from Manchester - then crossing over London to Elstree - early in the morning with a full face of slap on. I didn't have to get there till the afternoon, so it was a very long day. Got home at 11:30pm.
