How much do you/would you expect cleaners to clean in your house?

Live abroad, work full time and some weekends too, juggled with Dp, we have a toddler daughter and I find it impossible to keep things to the standard I had before.
I hired two cleaners for two hours, so four hours cleaning total.
We have a two bed, 3 bathroom house.
I basically just expect them to clean everything/everywhere as I would when cleaning.
Came back today, hoovering and mopped, polished everywhere well, but kitchen surfaces not touched, they obviously weren’t dirty but I expect to be cleaned? Still crumbs around toaster etc. Oven not cleaned or fridge inside or on top. Toilet downstairs the same as I left it, obviously clean as it always is but not a full clean as I’d do, if that makes sense?
They did put my washed sheets on the bed that I left out and the washed covers on my sofa back on.

Aibu to expect everything to be cleaned? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maybe I’ve been spoilt by my amazing previous cleaner, she did every surface, oven, fridge etc

Am I being too fussy?

You are expecting too much as part of a weekly clean. Cleaning inside fridge and oven, and on top of fridge is not part of a regular clean, nor is it achievable as part of a four hour clean.

I think certain things like cleaning ovens, fridge ect are classed as a deep clean and would be extra. X

My cleaner does a 5 bed, 3 en-suite, downstairs loo, family bathroom, 2 reception rooms and kitchen, all downstairs mopped etc, irons a basket of washing, changes 3 beds that takes her 2.5 hours (she is quick) so has cleaned my two ovens before and that’s only taken her to 3.5 hours.

With a three bed house I’d say it’s achievable - just depends who’s doing it. I’ve had ohh r cleaners that can’t finish the house, let alone the ironing and bed changes in 3 hours.

Mixed responses here.

Yes, I think it’s because the surfaces weren’t even wiped clean or anything moved?

Then the downstairs toilet doesn’t seem any different. Yes our toilet was clean, as in it’s obviously cleaned everyday and bleach, but when I’d do a proper clean, I’d spray and wipe everywhere and it’s a different sort of clean, thorough and sparkling

Also OP i totally agree that surfaces need cleaning and so do toilets irrespective of their appearance. I expect a thorough clean each time the cleaner comes, I keep it clean enough myself. If I’m paying it’s because I want someone to give it all a good clean, so it’s no use them relying on my cleaning. I have found some cleaners don’t clean what appears to be clean enough - this irritates me as I know how it was before.

What do you mean by "does"? I gave my cleaner 3 hours to clean my 3 bed 1 bath house and change 1 bed per week, no ironing.

Is your cleaner a machine?

She is mega. First time it took her 4 hours and she did the house top to bottom. Now its just maintenance cleans she alternates the stuff that doesn’t need doing each time (like the skirting boards or cleaning windows) each time. Tbh I think it helps that I pay her for 3 hours whatever she does as that was what I wanted when she started. If she does anything over I pay for her time and always tip. She’s got 4 extra houses off my recommendations she’s brill. Though in fairness I’ve had some terrible cleaners but also a few on a par with her.
HogDogKetchup · 14/11/2021 10:35

And by does I mean she thoroughly cleans the whole house. Hoovers, mops, cleans all surfaces, tidies etc

HogDogKetchup · 14/11/2021 10:37

Could you not do all that in 3 hours? I can’t imagine why you’d need 3 hours for that. I can do my own in about 3-3.5 and so I base my expectations on that. I’ve had some cleaners on trail who barely touched the sides in that time yet want £15+ per hour!
