4 Tyres for an old ford fiesta £320
Guttering, Soffits and Fascias to a three bed semi £3000
fence £1200. I'm very grateful the landlord next door has paid for the fence, i couldn't contribute.

I earn an alright wage but it is a single income house and things just seem to have sky rocketed!

This is a complete winge but 320 for 4 tyres. thats 75 quid odd for a budget tyre for my little fiesta.

I need a second income coming in because this is just pants and depressing.

Yanbu. I honestly don't know where everyone gets their money from.

Went to a party a couple of weeks ago and it seemed virtually everyone was having a £60k kitchen extension and endless renovations! Here I am debating whether to treat myself to a £40 rug I saw in B&M today!

Interesting how this is all due to Brexit.

Joe Biden seems to have arranged for Brexit to have the same effect in the USA.

but its like theres leeches everywhere. I clicked on a tv programme o my partners sky. It said it was free but would cost 111 for the year. Obviously i didnt click on it...its like you cant make a move without your pockets being rifled through...

Do you also think shops are leeches too? TV channels / programmes cost millions to make and have to be paid for, so they can pay people's salaries for one thing.

There's plenty to watch that's free if you can't/won't pay for the content.

Yes it's all going up.

Train fares - 3 week s ago I got a return ticket somewhere and it was £92 (walk up price) which seemed astronomical enough. I need to make exactly the same journey next week and its now £107. That's about 15% increase in 3 weeks.. Even trying to get an advance doesn't seem to knock much.

On the other hand I don't drive a car so at least I don't have to pay for tyres

GreenLunchBox · 12/11/2021 13:59

@Coteeee I normally get partworn tyres. Usually costs me £25 a tyre. Apparently they import them from places like Germany where the limits are super-strict. Their limits are something like 3mm while the UK limit is 1.6mm. Before I knew about this I was paying similar prices to you. I don't do a huge amount of miles so this is good for me.

It isn't just Brexit, Covid and the damage to production and supply chains is also having a significant impact.
The UK with Brexit and Covid is going to have a hard hit.

lightand · 12/11/2021 14:35

Dont forget the printing money situation both here, and certainly the US.
And furlough money still swirlying about.
More money in all those situations, chasing less goods, equals price rises and inflation for ages to come.

On the tiny plus side, things which are less urgent buys such as clothes, appear to be coming down in price.

Sounds like you got ripped off on the tyres, always check tyreleader for a rough price excluding fitting. Add £10-15 per tyre for fitting. Budgets are quite often poor value, terrible performance and high wear rate. Normally you’re better off buying something mid-range.
