To change jobs whilst pregnant

I am currently on maternity leave and due to return to work next month. Last week I accepted a new job in a different company which is too good an opportunity to turn down. Due to the length of time references will take I anticipate returning to my old role for a month or two before handing my notice in and starting the new job. All great and makes returning to a job I hate all the more easier knowing there is an end date in sight.

Yesterday I found out I am pregnant again. Unplanned and I think I am around 5/6 weeks judging by LMP. I'm now in absolute turmoil over what to do about my work situation. The way I see it I have 2 options - continue with new job and accept I will only qualify for MA and probably not give a great first impression, or withdraw my acceptance and return to my old job only to go back on maternity leave again very quickly (would only qualify for SMP).

So WWYD?

YABU - start the new job pregnant
YANBU - withdraw acceptance and return to old job pregnant

I applied for, and got a job when pregnant with dc3
I spoke to them about it and they seemed shocked not sure how, I was 5 months gone but I was still at the interview, feeling confident (I'd met one of the other candidates and knew I was far better qualified than her), so I told them I was expecting and wouldn't be able to start when they wanted, but I hoped they were thinking of the next 5 or 6 years and that it was worth waiting 3 months for a later start, but - if they found me the right candidate, then the 'right' candidate.
However that was back in the days when you had 3 months maternity leave and it really was just delaying my start by 3 months. Your situation would be more stop start, and, I presume (?) an expectation of much more leave.
So, from that, I guess it depends a lot on the role, and how that would work.
Ultimately, you have to do what is right for you, so it depends on all those factors.

I say take the new job if it's a good opportunity and you're likely to be there long term.
I found out I was pregnant 3 days after accepting a job offer in March this year. I told my new boss the day I started in June (after 12 week scan as I'd had a MMC last year) and, once over the shock and changing the plan for my role before starting maternity leave, she was fine. They knew this job was a long term plan for me (I lived locally and had moved to be closer to family) and I was fully qualified with over 2 years experience behind me.
Just found out last week that I can only get MA instead of SMP but getting that sorted out now so no biggie anymore.
I'd advise to tell them once you've started that you're pregnant so they can plan things relating to your role etc.

Thanks both, that's really helpful! I'm still going to go ahead with the new job and just hope everything falls into place in time.
