To think people have a lack of imagination if they say they couldn't spend the euromillions jackpot?

I'm perplexed at people who say that once they'd bought houses cars and holidays for everyone they're close to they would t know what to do with the rest of the money.

Do people not see things in their communities that desperately need investment?

Libraries
Museums
Restoring old buildings
New playparks for kids
A community centre
Services, facilities and equipment for children/ older people/ disabled people
Animal rescue centres

There's so much you could do!

But people would really leave it in a bank account rather than on some interesting and lasting endeavour??

Selfish people cannot see all that unfortunately!

I had a whole philanthropic life planned out for my Euro millions win. It was going to be amazing. Literally all my time would be spent finding and funding grass roots projects to fix problems for people, but all totally anonymously. Nobody would know. Same house, maybe slightly newer car. Quit current job for made up job.

Sadly I didn't win but it was fun planning.

I was thinking about this the other day. I would spend a couple of months researching to see if I would set up a charity or support existing charities. I would choose causes where the money could make the most difference to people but also causes that I am emotionally engaged with. Rehabilitation, domestic abuse and food poverty spring to mind. I thought all this and then nearly convinced myself to actually buy a ticket ConfusedGrin

You're kidding, right? If not, you're being very unfair.

Most people would struggle to imagine the reality of winning a million quid jackpot.

A world where you won the euro millions jackpot is so far removed from reality its like trying to imagine what life would be like if you lived on Mars. For most people, there is no need to create neural pathways or memory banks in their brain for storing 'charitable and business ideas for when I win 100 mil'.

Maybe you should become an adviser for euro millions winners so you can help them see all the projects they could contribute to.

Me and DH were discussing this very recently! After clearing our debt, sorting out houses and cars for the family etc and setting up trust funds for the kids, we would live off the interest rather than spunking it.

However, we absolutely would help our community and others. The conversation came up in the first place because I was saying how I wish I could help a local family pay for some private (as in a shorter waiting list) treatment. We absolutely would donate to others. No point in keeping it all to ourselves.
