To want to get DD this for Christmas

MumofSpud · 10/11/2021 23:38

I really am trying to raise DD not to be an entitled brat so this year for Christmas she will be getting a left shoe then on her birthday she will be getting the right one.
I am not sure that this will be spread out enough though.
She does need a new coat but I am giving her it button by button so will not be complete til 2041.

That’s too much. Waay overstimulating. Pick one. A shoe or a bit of a coat. But not both.

That’s too much. Start with a shoelace.

Jumpingintochristmas · 10/11/2021 23:57

She will be nothing but a spoiled little madam with such indulgences!

KeeG8181 · 10/11/2021 23:57

start with the socks, shoes are just cosmetic

RJnomore1 · 10/11/2021 23:58

One sock would be more appropriate op. A shoe is a bit much is it not. Stealth boast much?

Notimeforaname · 11/11/2021 00:23

No. Scale it right back. A handmade gift will be more than enough. Preferably made from recycled paper.

LittleDandelionClock · 11/11/2021 00:29

Lump of coal in one of grandad's old socks. For Christmas.

Then a lump of dry dog shit in his other sock for her birthday.

Why spoil her with new shoes?

Welldarn · 11/11/2021 00:32

A handmade gift will be more than enough. Preferably made from recycled paper. Honestly how environmentally unfriendly, how could you waste recycled paper so easily! Shock. Surely a couple of twigs and a stone (endless possibilities for imaginative play), will be enough, although may be two twigs is a bit wasteful? Grin

TwinklyBranch · 11/11/2021 00:34

YABU. Give her some sheets of newspaper and a stapler, she can make her own shoes.

TinaYouFatLard · 11/11/2021 00:34

You are a terrible parent OP. You and DD both need to spend every Christmas for the rest of your lives working a soup kitchen.

BrutusMcDogface · 11/11/2021 00:36

🙄

Lockdownbear · 11/11/2021 00:36

As long as they are Docs she'll be happy 😊

Ihaveroyallyscrewedup · 11/11/2021 00:43

Noooo not docs, I made this mistake and it ended up with the child feeling entitled to thicker socks to wear with them.

GreatBritishWineDrinker · 11/11/2021 00:46

No she needs a blister plaster first, then the sock for each foot then the shoe for each one. Don't spoil her

HemanOrSheRa · 11/11/2021 00:50

Honestly, unless her birthday is in July then I think you are raising a spoilt brat. Forget the shoes, socks, buttons. A scraping of tarmac off the road is more than enough.

If you want to give her a Christmas stocking then a few newspapers and some string to make her own toilet paper is more than enough and will teach her things.

Kanaloa · 11/11/2021 00:53

😂

Make sure to let her know you have provided her with a coat and shoes though, to encourage the correct levels of gratefulness.
