Order Which I Haven't Ordered - Zara

itsnotmeitsu · 06/11/2021 21:10

Anybody had this problem? I had an email from Paypal telling me that [?] had been taken from my account for an order. I didn't think I'd ordered anything from Zara, and when it turned it up I thought those trousers will only suit Kermit.

The problem is; trying to return the item and get the money back. Because I'd never ordered the item from Zara I have no confirmation of order, or indeed any other email from them. In order to return I need a QR code, which would be in the confirmation email, apparently. All I have is the email from Paypal telling me this transaction has taken place.

My local shop says I need to go on line to get the QR code in order to return and get my money back. Online there's no record of the order (because I never ordered it), so won't take me to anywhere where I can get this QR code. Is this all a bit shit?

And now I'm thinking how much companies can make if they send out random deliveries to people and make it impossible to get their money back? Idea for a new business Hmm.

I am just checking you have changed all you PayPal passwords as this is mighty suspicious .

USaYwHatNow · 06/11/2021 21:32

How bizarre. And the money had left your account? I would have said that screenshot sent to their Returns people may be enough as proof, however I wonder who has access to your account. And if fraudulent, what's to stop them moving that money out of your account again if you do end up with a refund. I'd try and speak to PayPal ASAP, and maybe Zara too to raise a concern.

USaYwHatNow · 06/11/2021 21:34

My mum had something similar and was sent the wrong order which H and M quibbled as the product didn't match her actual order they wouldn't return the goods so she could get the boots she had actually asked for 😂 however, instead of the £30 boots she had received a pair of £250 jeans, size 10. She was a size 14 at the time and she slimmed down into those babies as quickly as she could 😂😂

If you didn’t order it then you need to report to PayPal as fraud. www.paypal.com/uk/smarthelp/article/how-do-i-report-unauthorised-paypal-account-activity-faq1988

icedcoffees · 06/11/2021 22:44

You need to go through PayPal instead of Zara.

Snoozer11 · 06/11/2021 23:02

This is fraud. You may have had your identity stolen.

Contact Paypal, Zara, check your credit report for anything else. Change your passwords.

Erm, no because high street shops would never do this. You’re the victim of fraud, Zara are not trying to send you random items to make money from you against your will.

Report to PayPal like everyone said.

19lottie82 · 06/11/2021 23:12

Yes, report it to PayPal, not Zara

steff13 · 06/11/2021 23:14

Yeah, I agree with the others, go through PayPal.

Who's Kermit?

snackodactyl · 07/11/2021 06:09

Report as fraud on Paypal, and if not already set up 2 step authentication on your account OP. Hope Kermit’s trousers weren’t too pricey!

happinessischocolate · 07/11/2021 06:30

@steff13

Yeah, I agree with the others, go through PayPal.

Who's Kermit?

"Who's Kermit?"

Great, now I feel old 😂

steff13 · 07/11/2021 15:04

I know who Kermit the Frog is. It's just a super random thing to say. 🤷‍♀️ Why Kermit? Why not Grover?

Forgive me if I’m being thick, but how is this a successful fraud? I mean, I could understand if the stuff was sent to the alleged fraudsters address and they’d used OPs account to pay for it. But what do they (the fraudster) hope to gain by ordering goods and sending them to the address of the real account holder?

steff13 · 07/11/2021 15:52

Maybe "it wouldn't fit Kermit" is a common saying there, but it isn't here. 🤷‍♀️ I just thought it was a random comment is all, so I thought maybe Kermit was someone specifically known to be small.

DH had a pair of socks sent to him which he didn't order, it was fraud on his Barclaycard, it must have been some sort of test purchase.

salsmum · 07/11/2021 16:03

Maybe the fraudster was hoping to intersect the parcel like they do mobile phones... I read of another where you get a bunch of flowers and wine delivered but the delivery person says 'sorry the sender was £** ( low figure) shirt on delivery because of XYZ and presents you with a clone card reader where they can get your details. 🤬🤬

Ah, that makes sense. I seem to remember my friend’s DM had a phone sent to her that she hadn’t ordered. She was very worried and quite frail. I think her DD collected it and sent it back to the phone company, she also reported it to 101 IIRC.
