Trampolining 13 Weeks Pregnant

Notaclue01 · 06/11/2021 12:08

Hi all

I took my toddler to the trampoline park today to expel some energy. Im 13 weeks pregnant and to be honest it was stupid of me but I didn’t think and joined her for a bit of a bounce. Nothing massively strenuous and not for very long but now I’m panicking as everything I’ve read says not to do it……

Anyone else bounced on a trampoline pregnant and been ok?

I went on a roller coaster around 15 weeks pregnant and was ok (I didn't know!!) There is no point worrying about it, just don't do it again

I think the risk is falling, not the actual bouncing. So if you didn't yeet yourself off the trampoline, then you're fine.

I exercised a lot through my pregnancy and my consultant okayed doing jump squats with a TRX, so jumping def isn't an issue.

It’s fine unless you have been diagnosed with an incompetent cervix. It’s more the risk of a fall than the jumping up and down.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 06/11/2021 12:19

Sounds like you’re fine! Does seem likely the risk is falling not the bouncing itself.

Thanks everyone. That makes me feel much better and no I didn’t fall. We were only in the under 5’s bit so light bouncing at most!

The sonographer had me jumping up and down to get baby to move for the scan so I'm sure you'll be fine! I know the worry though!

Tiddlypompadour · 06/11/2021 12:43

I show jumped my horse up to eight months pregnant. You’ll be fine. Don’t worry a jot.

You'll be fine. The risks are obviously that you could fall on your belly, but at 13 weeks your baby still completely protected behind your pubic bone, or that as your hormones change, you can end up doing more damage to yourself as your ligaments become more flexible and you can more easily pull a muscle.
I should think a bit of light bouncing with your young child is unlikely to cause either of these issues though.

Unless you have a weak cervix there should be no additional risk to the baby. It's very well protected! Even if you fell it's highly unlikely the impact would affect your uterus.

The reason pregnant women are advised to avoid high impact/ heavy lifting is because hormonal changes make your ligaments more stretchy and prone to strains, but again that's an issue for you rather than the baby.

I carried on running and doing circuit training until I was 6.5 months and started getting sharp pains in my calves. Until then I carried on as normal.
