To ask your experiences of claiming PIP for ADHD?

I’m wading though the application form. Is it a pointless exercise?

Dd has to be reminded to do her every day tasks every single day.

Wash
Brush teeth
Eat etc

Her diet is limited, her mental health at rock bottom. Is it even worth the misery of trying to get additional help? We have been receiving DLA, but I’m not sure how it will work with this new points system and how she will be graded.

Any ideas?

Will you be able to get supporting evidence from HCPs and her school to support your claim? That makes a big difference.

I have just been through this with my ds. Did they ask you if you wanted them to use her previous dla forms as evidence? I couldn't really add much to my sons pip forms as it was all done through lockdown and he hadn't seen or spoken to anyone. I just put what I would have if it was a dla claim. Just be factual and you should be ok

I have enclosed the original info that was sent with DLA claim.

Then I have provided updated letters that have been sent from camhs this year.

That's all you can do really. They will look at all the past claims and anything you have provided. Unfortunately it's quite a long wait to hear from them, I think my son's took about 6 months from when they received it to actually being awarded. I had a call from them around the 5 month mark just to go over a few questions and then got the decision a month later. Hope yours is a bit quicker than that!

DS was awarded it. He had to attend an interview, DH went with him. We had no supporting paperwork & I have no clue what was written on the DLA application form originally but DS, although he will brush his teeth and pour himself cereal, wouldn’t eat unless we made him something, we’ve tried to say for him to make himself a sandwich but he would just not eat. We were told he would be reassessed again after 3 years, 2 years on and he’s no different.
It’s worth plodding on with the paperwork. Good luck.

Try printing off some social stories to prompt your dd to become more independent. It's really helped my dc as they're both really forgetful & it saves me from nagging.

Hi, I have phoned pip to send application forms out. I was thinking the same is it actually worth applying. My son has ADHD and although if I weren't around he would make food for himself. Every other day tasks he would not complete. I don't have any past claims for him and no real paper work from when he was diagnosed as the lady who completed it went on long term sick and I've never received it 🤷‍♀️
