Had a hell of a year.
Both my parents died.
My fiancé left me and I’m pregnant.
DS is severely autistic, needs me to wash him, brush teeth, help him with all self care etc

I am EXHAUSTED. I am depressed. My house is a shit tip.
DS finally in school after years of exclusions and I come home, sit and stare at the mess or go to bed.

I want a nice clean home, I want to cook fresh meals, I want to walk the dogs, I want to exercise. I want to work towards making my own money (how?!) I want a life.

How do I deal with the depression, the grief, the challenges with my son and actually get my arse into gear to help myself? I’m making myself worse by wallowing but can’t seem to actually get out of it 😭

I do the 15 thing fling and try to throw junk out of one room each day. That really helps eventually. That and making one area lovely. I can sit in one small tidy area when I need to chill.

One piece of advice from when I've dealt with crippling depression/anxiety - avoid making big lists! Writing down all the jobs that need doing is overwhelming in itself.

If I'm not working, I write down one task that I need to do each day over the next 3 days, and make sure I do that one task by the time I go to bed. For example, a load of laundry on Monday, clean the kitchen sideboards on Tuesday. I find then that I either do other tasks without thinking about it (like put dirty plates from the sideboard into the dishwasher), or by procrastinating about the main tasks I end up doing smaller jobs instead.

Just remember that whatever you get done, it's all progress!

Depending on your finances, getting a cleaning company in for a one off full house clean can be really helpful to get back to square one as well. Companies who do this kind of service often do end of tenancy cleans etc so aren't expecting a regular customer from it.
