AIBU to be pissed off or am I just over sensitive?? I have been in my job for 8 years and I have worked in several different departments. I am very flexible and I rarely moan. Other people moan and create a fuss if they are asked to do something they don't want to do. They stay in their own department doing their own role and if they asked to do something different they threaten to leave. My contract and most of the staff on my pay scale don't state a specific department.

I was asked to swap (actually I was told I was swapping!!) departments again this week (after only being in this department for 5 weeks)with another member of staff because she didn't like the department she was in and she had applied for another job.. They know if they ask me I will do it and actually I quite like variety rather than routine BUT what has pissed me off is she has won employee of the week for stepping in and saving the day in a short staffed department. She hasn't stepped in she has taken my role because she didn't like hers and they need to keep her sweet!!! I have never won employee of the week and although it has never ever bothered me I feel really hard done by now and that me being flexible and happy to help where ever is actually the managers walking all over me!!!!

Can you explain how this situation is making you feel to senior management? If not I'd be inclined to start job hunting and going somewhere I was valued.

I would definitely explain this in a professional way to your manager thats really unfair. YANBU.

You like variety, but being treated like a doormat?
Discuss it with your line manager, but if they don't get it, look around for another role.
I get why your hacked off, but do have a good think before any conversation, and work out what you want to achieve - "She won employee of the month and I didn't" might come across as a bit lame.

It seems in your place if you threaten to leave etc you get preferential treatment. So maybe try that!

YANBU. I’d be looking for a new job in a new company where you will be valued not treated like the stop gap.
