To not want to view /move into a property due to lack of bathroom storage

Afternoon,

The bathroom only has a sink and a bath, no shelves, cupboards or anything for storage. AIBU to be put off by this?

Places I've rented have had ample storage.

Is there any space to add cupboards and shelves?

Albgo · 02/11/2021 12:55

Is this a rental property?

RolloTomassi · 02/11/2021 12:56

Of the house is right otherwise then I'd say YABU. Surely shelving or a unit of some kind could be added?

georgarina · 02/11/2021 12:56

Is there space to put up a mirror and shelves? If so I'd do that.

Whataday21 · 02/11/2021 12:56

Well it depends if the market where you are will allow for this being an issue. We've had to make a lot of compromises in the house we just bought. I'd take the bath out anyway! All of our towels are in the airing cupboard.

bogeythefungusman · 02/11/2021 12:56

If the rest of the property is great it seems a bit shortsighted. How much storage do you actually need in a bathroom?

NavyCream · 02/11/2021 12:57

You can set any criteria you want when choosing. If you want bathroom storage you can turn it down

Usernameismyname01 · 02/11/2021 12:57

What do you need so much storage for?

Shampoo/Conditioner/Showegel - in the shower

Toothpaste/Handwash - on sink

Toilet Rolls/Bleach - in a basket on floor corner or under sink

RitaFires · 02/11/2021 12:59

If I liked the rest of the house I'd just buy some kind of shelving or whatever suits the space best and get on with it. It doesn't seem like much of a compromise to me.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 02/11/2021 13:00

I suspect it have an airing cupboard on landing. If not you can easily overcome this even if you can attach things to the wall.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 02/11/2021 13:00

Can’t attach that should be.

Bathtoy · 02/11/2021 13:00

Are you renting or buying it? I'm currently living in a giant Victorian wreck that has two tiny shower-rooms on the first floor and no loos anywhere else, no bathroom storage, no airing cupboard, and the world's most primitive kitchen -- but we will gradually be improving it. At the moment the towels and bed linen live in a wardrobe in one of the bedrooms.

SW1amp · 02/11/2021 13:05

£70, and the problem is fixed
You’re going to find property hunting incredibly slow if you rule out places with such an easy fix

I've never had bathroom storage. What do you store in a bathroom? All of mine is in the shower or on the sink

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 02/11/2021 14:15

Our bathroom had no storage. We put up a mirror shelf thing and a tall thin bathroom storage unit and store shampoo on a board across the bath

LittleDandelionClock · 02/11/2021 14:17

@Quirkyme Daft reason to veto a house. Just buy a separate storage unit. How many bathrooms already have ample storage anyway! Confused Every home I have moved has had fuck-all storage in the bathroom.

LittleDandelionClock · 02/11/2021 14:18

*every home I have moved into.

AnnaSW1 · 02/11/2021 14:22

I actively don't store stuff in the bathroom. It's not the best place. So it wouldn't cross my mind!

eggandonion · 02/11/2021 14:24

Lidl often have bathroom storage things.

ThePoisonousMushroom · 02/11/2021 14:26

Our bathroom doesn’t have storage, so I bought something like this…

www.wayfair.co.uk/furniture/pdp/house-of-hampton-vida-43-x-77cm-free-standing-cabinet-wldh2045.html

Easily fixed.

Chouetted · 02/11/2021 14:33

Is there no space at all for storage? Not even under the sink? Can you not fit a bin or a storage stool in? No windowsill?

RacketeerRalph · 02/11/2021 14:39

I think YABU unless there is absolutely nowhere you could add a bit of storage - a mirrored cabinet, a few shelves etc.

Ozanj · 02/11/2021 14:43

Whether you’re being reasonable depends on whether this is a HA / Council property (where you get what you’re given) or you can afford to rent properties with the space you need. My current property has no bathroom storage. It’s annoying but if I want houses with bigger bathrooms I would need to spend £100k more. Far cheaper just to do up the bathrooms and add storage myself.

NautaOcts · 02/11/2021 14:45

Well…. Depends how many other options you have doesn’t it? Only you can work out if you can afford to be that picky. If you can find something else you’re happier with then of course YANBU. Sounds kind of minor to be and sortable.

Whereis · 02/11/2021 14:46

That’s an insane reason. Additional storage is one of the most easy things to add yourself - google and you’ll see how many options you have
