Just that really. She is HP obsessed but just worried some parts may be a little scary - interested in opinion of those who have seen it?

I've been to see it and I think it would be fine for a 7 year old, there were dc around that age when we went. Some parts are dark/have things flying overhead but if she isn't phased by that then it should be fine :)

HotPenguin · 29/10/2021 21:06

I think it would be a bit of a waste as to enjoy it you need to know the whole series of books. I think she would enjoy it more when she's older and can understand the plot (which is complex for a 6 yo)

BangingOn · 29/10/2021 21:10

It’s long and quite complex, personally I wouldn’t. I didn’t feel it was aimed at children.

NotAnotherPushyMum · 29/10/2021 21:12

My dd was quite resistant to scary things at 7, but she would have been terrified at one part. Plus it’s really long. I’d wait.

Sunnyjac · 29/10/2021 21:13

My nearly 7 year old wouldn’t have understood it and wouldn’t have sat quietly through both shows

Facespook · 29/10/2021 21:13

It’s pretty long-it’s a long time to sit still in what are probably very cramped seats.

My daughter was 9 and enjoyed it but I don’t think I’d have taken her before that age.

There are some scary bits but I think it’s the concentration that’s the main issue!

TinaYouFatLard · 29/10/2021 21:15

DD was very young when she was heavily into Harry Potter, but I’m glad we waited until she was 11 to see TCC. It’s very long and I don’t recall there being as many lighter moments as are in the books/films. It’s brilliant though and will be worth waiting a little longer to get the best out of it.

Have you done the studio tour?

ChingfordNameChange · 29/10/2021 21:37

It’s very long either way you do it - over two nights or in one day. I think 7/8 is definitely too young and the website says 10 and over. It made me jump let alone a 7 year old!

00100001 · 29/10/2021 21:41

I wouldn't.

It's very long.

Very loud.

Some quite'scary' parts.

It's not really like the Harry Potter she's used to.

Better off taking her to the Studio Tour tbh. It's incredible. Its more fun, you can do it at own pace, try butterbeer, go to Gringotts, Olivanders etc.

treblechoc · 29/10/2021 22:08

Wait till she's read all the books - seeing all the films isn't enough.

It's a time travel plot with lots of twists and turns. You need to know the books well to follow it. But it's brilliant when you do!

Idony · 30/10/2021 03:20

It's a load of adults whining about their complex lives, and a child with a depressing, rubbish relationship with his father. It's not whimsy broomstick fun.

It's dull enough for adults. A kid would be bored stiff.

DarceyDashwood · 30/10/2021 07:18

I’d wait until they were at least 9. It’s quite a complex plot as others have said. You need quite an in-depth knowledge of the books to really appreciate / understand it. I think most 7 year olds would struggle. Plus there are a few quite scary bits!

User527294627 · 30/10/2021 08:15

I think it’s probably a bit too scary. Most of it would be fine but there are some bits that made me jump.

Hobbesmanc · 30/10/2021 08:53

We went last Saturday. It is very long and I suspect that a seven year old would find it a challenge. It's also quite a dense plot with lots of references to the seven books. It's not a stand alone story to be fair. There weren't many younger kids in the theatre.

Scary? Yeah I think a few bits would be challenging.

Gottahavehighhopes · 30/10/2021 09:20

I wouldn't. Its very long and quite in depth. I'd say its definitely not aimed at children more adults that grew up with hp and teenagers

Needsleep32 · 30/10/2021 09:31

Thanks all. She’s seen all of the films but only read the first couple of books, so we’ll wait.

Like I say, take her to the Studio Tour... She'll love it

Idony · 30/10/2021 10:37

You stuck a 6 year old in front of Deathly Hallows to watch corpses pile up?
