To not want to be harassed every day on holiday?

Yes, before anyone says, I know it's a first world problem but it's also very annoying.

Currently abroad on holiday, in an all inclusive hotel that is not cheap. Beautiful hotel, lovely staff etc. Feel very lucky to be here.

Inside the hotel there is a photography shop and a beauty/hair salon amongst other shops, where the owners rent the shop from the hotel. So they are based at the hotel but don't work for the hotel.

Each day the owners and workers of the photography shop and the salon go round and round by the pool, drumming up custom. Which is fine, and they seem to get loads of customers. However they come up to families around the pool multiple times per day and literally talk and talk to you about their service and why you should sign up for it. We have said 'thanks but no thanks' to each of these on the first day. Happy to have a quick chat but sometimes they stand talking 'at' us for 15 minutes or more at a time, multiple times a day. No matter how many times we say 'no' they won't give up.

AIBU to not want this harassment in a hotel, on a holiday we've paid a lot of money for? The photography man has even come to talk 'at' us whilst we've been eating lunch and wouldn't leave us alone. I can understand harassment in the street but surely it's not right in the hotel?!

I knew this would be Turkey. I once made the mistake of going to a similar sounding resort on my own. The entertainment guy noticed me the second I sat down at the pool on the first day and would not leave me alone until I left. I’d be laying there reading my book and he’d sit down actually on my sunbed and put his hand on my leg Envy
No matter what I did or said he did not get the message that I didn’t want to chat to him.

Towards the end I went to the beach every day instead or organised excursions but it really soured what was meant to be a relaxing break of just chilling out on my own.

Ah I love a Barut hotel OP, glad it's not one of those. But not glad for you that you're getting hassled. Ignore the twats. Be as rude as you can manage.

We went back to Spain at the start of October and I was very glad that the massage people had fuxked off.

@twilightermummy

Are you in Turkey?
I just knew it was Turkey!

What a nightmare. Are you going to speak to the manager OP?

IslaPineappple · 30/10/2021 10:49

We just put our hand up and say no!

If they carry on talking we just ignore them and talk to each other, as if we literally can't see them. They soon leave.
