How many sheets/ duvet covers do you put in at once? And how much space are you leaving between the top and the drum?

Top and bottom sheet, both pillowcases, duvet cover.

I have a 11kg load machine so can get a king size duvet set in plus the cushion covers from various scatter cushions and a big throw from the bed with loads of space. I never run a half empty machine so just fill it with other washing.

I've got a 6kg top loading machine, no central agitator. It fits king sized (I believe that is super king in uk- we go king, queen, single in Australia) doona cover, top and bottom sheet, 6 pillow cases, a couple of smaller items eg nightie, towel. If I do a queen size bed there's space for more than the bedding.

@MolkosTeenageAngst that's what the operating instructions for my machine say. Don't overfill the water as the friction from clothes rubbing helps clean. That said, I've found the auto load sensing didn't use enough water IMO so I tend to manually select.
