🤔 is the question!

What do we think? Do I stop using them?

Apparently they're only for oldies

I use them a lot at work, will this make me look idiotic professionally?

No. I still use them loads. But then I'm not young 😉 I think Bitmojis are more popular with the young 'uns 👍

LeuvenMan · 27/10/2021 19:12

Hopefully not, As a middle aged bald bloke I've just learned how to use them Grin

Walkingalot · 27/10/2021 19:13

Emoji's are for everyone and certainly not outdated. Certainly wouldn't use them in a work environment with the general public though.
A bit more context?

MrsFin · 27/10/2021 19:14

What's a bitmoji? I am probably proving the point.

NotSoNewAndShiny · 27/10/2021 19:15

Well make space for me. Love them and happy to use them.Grin

I don't know about using them for work, especially if it's a professional setting rather than a laid-back one, iykwim.

Love gifs and memes too.🤪

Like this.

Thank you.
I thought that was a "gif"
Still probably proving the point - I'm 60Grin

Rainbowshine · 27/10/2021 19:28

I wouldn’t use them in a professional email, it looks like you can’t articulate yourself using actual words and in the industry I work in you’d be seen as unprofessional and a liability for using them, even internally. If it’s to react to an instant message then it might be ok with a colleague you’re friendly with.

Mantlemoose · 27/10/2021 19:49

Depends on the tone and the workplace I guess. I do use the smiley face in informal emails .

RacketeerRalph · 27/10/2021 21:33

Yes they are - none of my (much) younger siblings use them.

Ughmaybenot · 27/10/2021 21:37

🤷🏼‍♀️ I use them all the time and so do most people I communicate via text/WhatsApp/insta etc with, from 18 up to 70 or so! I’m 27.

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 27/10/2021 21:38

Surely everyone uses 🤣🤣🤣 tho

@Meredusoleil

Isn't that a Memoji?

If not what's the difference between a bitmoji and a Memoji? (Not the start of a hilarious joke!).

FrankButchersDickieBow · 28/10/2021 00:07

I use them but I'm an oldie. My mum uses them, she is of an age that mumsnetters think of as a brexit voting doddery old idiot (she isn't)

My nice also uses them, mid 20's, but my teenage daughter doesn't.

Dancerinthedark01 · 28/10/2021 00:10

If they’re passé I’ll start using them.

Never heard of a Memoji, but the actual app for Android and Google is called Bitmoji AFAIK!

MakingTheBestOfIt · 28/10/2021 07:59

According to teen DD literal use of them is, indeed, passé.

Old school text emoticons :) ;) XD etc are acceptable, as is using emojis in an ironic way - e.g…

😭 = laugh to tears
💀 = laugh to death

Not if you work within the social media team of your company, otherwise it's really unprofessional.
