To think all the talk of spiking through injection has given men ideas?

I’m not saying this shouldn’t be reported on, of course it should. But I had never heard of girls being spiked by needles before.

Then a couple of weeks ago it suddenly started being reported on and now my niece who is 18 is saying it’s happened to a friend and friends of friends etc. She also said she’d never heard of it before. I believe her as she’s now said her and her friends are just sticking to local pubs and not going in to town.

I can’t help but think all of the warnings about it have actually given these men ideas?

Men don't need much excuse to attack women, so I can see why it's spreading so fast. I suspect the needles aren't actually loaded with anything, because a sedative would need to be injected intramuscularly which is quite painful and certainly involves a degree of pressure.

I think some men are just sticking women with sharp objects because they enjoy doing it. It's very sad times and these men are despicable.

@bestcattoyintheworld.

Yes that wouldn’t surprise me if they are injecting empty (possibly already used and contaminated, I wouldn’t rule out anything Sad) needles because they get a sick kick out of causing women pain and fear for daring to enjoy a night out with their friends.

I’ve seen articles in Facebook about it and loads of men leave laughing face reactions on the articles. It’s disgusting. Blatantly pointing themselves out like that.

I wonder whether it has made women realise that this is a possibility.

I was on a night out about 5 years ago, had a couple of drinks but couldn't stand or talk properly. Luckily my flatmates at the time got me home. The next day there was a red mark, similar to after an injection on my thigh but I thought I must have fallen and maybe drunk too fast on an empty stomach. Looking back now though I do wonder whether this is what had happened.

I read a thing in the BBC saying that you’d need a huge needle and to apply it for 20/30 seconds to actually sedate someone so I think it being done to menace/intimidate, probably with empty vials or pins is more likely- before you even consider the likelihood of that many ppl being able to get hold of intravenous sedatives.

It’s horrible though- there’s talk of searching but how can you search someone for a pin? I know a pin wouldn’t do long term physical damage but it’d stick in your head for weeks and probably stop you going out again

Hobbesmanc · 27/10/2021 11:44

It would be virtually impossible to administer an IV drug without someone being aware and complying to a certain extent- think about having bloods taken at the doctor and the care taken to find a vein. Doing that into someone's hand would be impossible in a club.

Something like ketamine is intramuscular into a thigh or bum cheek. But it wouldn't be instantaneous, it would be noticeable and really hard to give through clothing. Also surely the needles would be discarded. Whose going to risk carrying them all night?

No one is trying to minimise how shocking alcohol spiking or drugs in drink spiking is- but needle spiking just seems to have exploded as an urban myth over night

Hm, that’s a point. I remember when I was at the age where I was going out I’d wake up hungover covered in awful bruises not remembering the night before. I’d know nothing had happened as we all stuck together and there was always a designated driver who dropped us all off home each night, or we’d all get a taxi to the same girl’s place.

If the girls are drunk would they feel as much as its like an anesthetic?

I dont see why clubs dont have cctv?
With the internet there is probably groups talking about how to do this.

JCFJW · 27/10/2021 15:51

@HSHorror.

I remember reading on here a while ago about how on an infamous incel forum there’s a section where they all share ideas on how to scare and intimidate women when out in public. Saying how they enjoy going out at night, finding a woman walking alone and walking fast behind her because they get a kick out of seeing her get increasingly terrified etc

Are things like GHB more mainstream now?
