Hate my haircut and colour, any advice?

I’ve gone between short and long hair for years, this is the shortest I’ve had it but I really dislike it.
It just looks like a mushroom, very boyish and I don’t think it suits me at all.
Naturally dark brown hair but put some blonde highlights in myself as can’t afford the salon atm, however it’s just gone an awful brassy colour, so thinking of dying it red.

I had it cut like this early September and had a very small trim last week, but otherwise feel like it’s hardly grown. Think short hair can look amazing but I feel so unattractive with this cut.

I like it! Maybe a teensy but more volume but it looks sweet.

…bit

BrisbaneandGone · 26/10/2021 22:00

Quiff it up a bit at the front maybe?

TrollsAreSaddos · 26/10/2021 22:08

I think it’s really nice. I love short hair and it looks like your new cut suits you. I don’t think it needs more lift. Earrings and makeup come Ito their own with such short hair.
Its hard to tell if the colour is good or not. It looks ok though.

I’ve had hair that short myself and I thought I looked fab. The only problem was that it needed regular cuts and was a bugger to grow out.

That’s the top of my head with the awful blonde, I’m dying it red tomorrow

I googled Frankie Bridge and it looks like her ears are cut round whereas yours out. The top of hers looks like it's been cut to bring out texture too. I would go to a different hairdresser and get them to give you the cut you actually asked for, with lift on top. I think it would really suit your face shape.

*aren't, not out.

Earrings and hairbands are your friend OP, they feminise/soften your look. And thankfully it is hat season! (Am also growing hair, as eating disorder and stress made my lovely long hair fall out, so I'm growing it all back).
I also take a hair growth vitamin (under £5 Home Bargains) and use hair growth shampoo.

Hairdresser here ! , it needs to be cut shorter and sharper round your ears , and the weight removing from the area above your ears . More choppy on top but not shorter . Choppier on fringe . It’s very easy to fix . Also it’s all flat and not styled , it needs styling , / ruffling up and a small about of dry styling clay ( not wax as wax is greasy )
Hair bands look awful on short hair …you suit it very much , when you have a good cut it makes a big difference . Home highlights on dark hair will always always be orange . Red will look good , but can look dull eventually if over dyed . Great bone structure !

malificent7 · 27/10/2021 07:06

The colour is great and you could spike the fringe. I like a pixie cut.

Rubyupbeat · 27/10/2021 07:10

Let it grow right out, Alice bands etc....
Also, some nice earrings would make a huge difference too.

Romantique · 27/10/2021 11:22

I’ve been and had more choppy layers put in and I’m much happier with it ! Thanks everyone

Re the helmet for riding.

You can buy a powder which you sprinkle into the roots then rub it into the root. It provides an instant lift. So may help when you take the helmet off at your destination to give it a bit of lift/texture

Penguinsmum · 27/10/2021 11:34

I don't usually like short hairstyles much but yours looks lovely. You look like you have a great bone structure and can totally pull it off.
