Posting for traffic,

What is this? Why do I get it? And how do I get rid of it? I've had it for a long time, though it does seem to have gotten worse lately. It's really starting to affect my confidence, Any ideas?

Can you help me identify this skin condition?

Have you seen a gp, op?

Also is it itchy? It looks like you've been scratching, either that or could be infected. I would return to gp Flowers

TotallySuper · 26/10/2021 12:07

You'll need several trips to a GP trying various options before eventually if it's still there you'll get referred to dermatology. If you can afford it you could pay for a private dermatology consultation (usually around £200) and go from there. It looks like rosacea. Your skin looks very dry do you moisturise daily in that area? If you've sought no advice at all already you could start with the local pharmacy.

Tee20x · 26/10/2021 12:08

Looks as if you may be scratching it? If you're not aware maybe subconsciously in your sleep or something?

Looks a bit like when I have a bath and scratch my leg and burst capillaries under the skin.

Maybe see a dermatologist?

TotallySuper · 26/10/2021 12:08

Actually zooming it it may be broken capillaries or varicose veins etc. I'd start with the pharmacist and then GP if they suggest.

GoingForAWalk · 26/10/2021 12:09

See your GP who'll refer you to a dermatologist

Rabbitheadlights · 26/10/2021 12:20

They are definately broken veins/capillaries under the skin. I've asked the GP a few times and he's been quite dissmissive as though it's nothing to worry about and just the way my skin is. But as I get older I worry that it can't be normal for that many capillaries to break surely? I. Probably making links where there are none but I have a history of blood clots, lung and DVR and my mum died from a stroke very young so I worry that there's something wrong with my veins and or blood to cause this, Ive never seen this on anyone before

Could it be rosacea?

www.nhs.uk/conditions/rosacea/

I think that’s normally on the face but looks a bit like it?

CrocodilesCry · 26/10/2021 12:26

They look like spider veins (telangiectasias) - sometimes caused by sunlight or cold exposure, poor circulation and some other things.

You can have them lasered but it would be a cosmetic rather than a medical procedure.

Jamnotjelly · 26/10/2021 12:28

I am not medically trained in any way but wondering if it could be rosacea? Mine looks a bit like that. It has improved a lot since I stopped spraying perfume on my neck/decolletage every morning - my doctor thought the perfume was sensitising my skin (or something like that) then the skin was overreacting to sun / cold / wind. Again though I am absolutely not a doctor so could be way off the mark! Definitely go and see a dermatologist I'd say.

Jamnotjelly · 26/10/2021 12:29

Oh cross posted!

TotallySuper · 26/10/2021 12:41

Worth pursuing via gp for dermatology (you have to be quite demanding though as for some reason some GPs are reluctant with referrals) rosacea does look like broken capillaries etc too so might just be that. Could you afford a private referral you could book yourself?

dailydreamin · 26/10/2021 12:42

Do you smoke @Rabbitheadlights

Rabbitheadlights · 26/10/2021 12:44

I used to @dailydreamin

@Jamnotjelly I’m not either but my friend has it and it looks similar

Mosaic123 · 26/10/2021 12:48

Do you wear nail varnish? I discovered, after many years, that I had an allergy to one of the ingredients. I had red patches in lots of places where my fingers touched my skin. It came on slowly.

dailydreamin · 26/10/2021 12:48

@Rabbitheadlights yeah it's to do with circulatory system. Smoking won't have helped sadly. It's not really reversible unfortunately.

Bollindger · 26/10/2021 12:49

Are you allergic to anything?
As looks like your scratching yourself.
Try a silk t shirt and see if it helps.

Rabbitheadlights · 26/10/2021 12:50

Thanks everyone I will make an appointment with GP and go from there. It's never really bothered me before but the worse it gets the more self conscious I'm starting to feel.

Looks like something I had once called Pithy... something

k4523 · 26/10/2021 20:27

Possibly spider naevi

StoneofDestiny · 26/10/2021 20:49

Change your GP if the one you spoke to is 'dismissive'.

I can't emphasise this post enough

YoungGiftedPlump · 27/10/2021 00:51

Your skin looks patchy. Could it be lichen sclerosus?

Willyoujustbequiet · 27/10/2021 01:41

Have you had your platelets checked?
