AIBU to expect the BBC to know how to spell?

More and more I'm seeing mainstream media with mis-spellings and grammatical errors. I know that people hate the grammar / spelling police on forums and social media, but surely it's not a lot to expect an institution such as the BBC to do some spellchecking?

@Pandaly

I don't think rubbish spelling has any correlation with views on "what is a woman". But I may be wrong.
It's all symptomatic of a wider malaise within society where social media has given everyone a voice rather than pushing experts to the front. So a drama student thinks that she can talk down an eminent biologist (with more fellowships than I care to name), just like we now don't bother to employ sub-editors to ensure accuracy in the media.

It’s human error. Perhaps somebody was rushing to meet a deadline. I don’t think it helps to get overly annoyed about stuff like that. We all make mistakes.

BBC has loads of spelling errors (and grammatical errors too), as does the national newspaper I read. It really annoys me.

I do find that homophones seem to be one of the biggest problems they have, presumably because they rely on spell checkers too much.

In many cases, I think that it may be because the subtitles that tickertape across the bottom of the screen are autogenerated in real time by AI language recognition software that's listening to the audio. They're particularly perplexed by regional accents.

This does lead to some pretty egregious fog ops.
