What have I just read on my TV guide .. Breast Feeding my boyfriend ...

Just sat down to watch some TV.
Long list of nonsense on... looked to see if things improve by 10pm and came across this delightful offering on Channel 4.
Described as 'A look at the taboo surrounding adult breastfeeding, exploring a growing underground scene that ranges from women producing milk for their partners to the lucrative lactation porn industry' ..

AIBU to think that some things are taboo because they need to be. ? Where on earth can their be any interest in such a programme beyond simple voyeurism and an excuse for a program that will no doubt be full of breasts and the sexualisation of them by those with this bizarre fetish.

I know I sound like some easily offended DM reader . I really am not. I'm pretty laid back I think. Would describe myself as fairly liberal left wing - but to me this is unfathomable. It will neither educate nor inform ? Just entertain those with a bit of a warped kink. What next ?
Foot fetishises with multiple lovers, Vacuum pack my girlfriend ? Sex with my letterbox ? Perhaps you have some suggestions for taboos that need to stay that way ?

We don't need kinks on mainstream TV like they are supposedly normal.

Tillymintpolo · 25/10/2021 22:17

I managed 10 mins and turned it off, vile and disturbing

EasterIssland · 25/10/2021 22:18

@PermanentTemporary

Any mention of the fact that this can be abusive domination by men and in countries where food is harder to get, put babies in danger of death?
@PermanentTemporary can I ask you why this practice where food is difficult to get would put kids in danger ? As there is unlimited supply normally of bf, normally the more you pump the more you produce as your body adjusts to the needs of the baby so I’d have thought this practice (which I’m not in favour of) would actually result in more breast milk unless the woman would mainly bf to the adult and neglect the child.

Just wanted to ask you about the reasoning about that bit

Finknottlesnewt · 25/10/2021 22:21

Bothyboo
I don't disagree with you about what people do in relationships. As long as both parties consent and no one is harmed (beyond their own parameters in the case of s&m)

However it really doesn't need to be presented on TV in a way that seems to be saying g this is 'normal' . It's not. It's WIERD . and weird is fine in private but not on publicly funded TV. I'm sure there are subscription services better suited.
A real shame because Channel 4 produces some fabulous stuff.

I would like to say a word on behalf of the Door Furniture Fetishists out there.
As long as you have received proper consent from your front door then fondling the knocker, laying the doormat, penetrating the letterbox and eventually ringing the bell can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience.. although it’s generally a bit of a surprise for the Amazon delivery guy

LuckyLuckyWoman · 25/10/2021 22:26

Thankful for the 10 o'clock news
24 hours in police custody is worth a watch though.

XenoBitch · 25/10/2021 22:32

Not as bad as the article I saw in some Take a Break type rag years ago. A lady who was breast feeding her own dad. She said it helped with his cancer treatment.

www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/global-development/2020/jan/28/she-cant-say-no-the-men-who-take-breast-milk-from-babies

It's already happening, men literally taking food from their children.

DandyHighwayWoman · 25/10/2021 22:34

@Thedogscollar

Yet breastfeeding mothers are still made to feel uncomfortable for feeding their babies when out and about.

Makes my blood boil.Angry

Absolutely this

Easteriisland, think this is probably the kind of thing pp is referring to. Misogyny at it's finest:www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/global-development/2020/jan/28/she-cant-say-no-the-men-who-take-breast-milk-from-babies

Brilliant Mybalconyiscracking sheer genius .. a sort of 'how to' guide. You've missed your vocation as a content adviser a Ch4.. meanwhile I am still recovering from Ipswichwitch suggestion of American style post boxes at the end of the drive. .. and made me think about those communal ones in apartment blocks. I think you need to refine your etiquette rules....

I'll never forget the episode about men who have sex with cars. There was a shot of a man getting really hot and sweaty when he saw his dream car. The camera cut out and then the next shot was a lump of seamen on the bonnet and the man standing there all puffed out.

DentalWorries · 25/10/2021 22:39

I feel so sorry for their kids. Imagine going into school after your parents have been having sex on Channel 4

HemanOrSheRa · 25/10/2021 22:41

@Halloweenadoodle

I was watching 24 hours in police custody about someone being horrifically murdered then wham... men breastfeeding... channel 4 should have reappy thought about its scheduling.
Same. The episode of 24 hours in police custody was so upsetting. Then...BOOM. FFS.
Mybalconyiscracking · 25/10/2021 22:50

I love the English language, virtually anything can be made to sound filthy..

Still, if one ever really did want revenge for all that teenage attitude… Hmm

Just caught the last 10 mins.

Weird. As. Fuck

RandomLondoner · 25/10/2021 23:08

I remember the episode of Friends where Ross (I think) accidentally drank some expressed breast milk. I was completely mystified by his disgust when he realised. In my mind breast milk is like cows milk, except better, as it's associated with women, who I generally like more than cows. Admittedly I don't know any cows well, and haven't tasted breast milk since before my first birthday, so my perspective is based on imperfect information.

It took me a while to rationalise that Ross was probably categorising it with other bodily fluids, none of which I'm particularly keen to taste. I suppose I can see his point of view, though I still don't agree with it.

I don't think this kink is especially odd. In fact, speaking as someone with no experience of either, I think it would be more reasonable to be disgusted by the idea of blow-jobs.

Animood · 25/10/2021 23:09

Not hurting anyone is it? Consenting adults behind closed doors. Not violent to the woman (or man). They all seem happy.

Should it be on the telly? Probs not!

AmberLynn1536 · 25/10/2021 23:09

Agree and people should stop apologising for being ‘prudish’ if more people were ‘prudish’ and not afraid to call things out like this we wouldn’t be in this situation where things that should be kept behind closed doors are now in the mainstream media. Acts like this used to be called perversions but now it’s being rebranded as ‘Kink’ and is to be celebrated, out and proud and woe betide anyone who kink shames, what a fucking crock of shit things have become.
VestaTilley · 25/10/2021 23:11

YANBU. This is all part of a wider attempt by some to end what these perverts call “kink shaming” - like you, I think some things should be taboo for a reason.

And stuff like this shouldn’t be shown on mainstream TV - there are children sadly whose parents don’t parent them properly, and who will end up watching it.

Channel 4 should’ve been consigned to the bin years ago.

I haven’t watched terrestrial telly in ages. I don’t feel like I’m missing out.
