To want to go out-out at 41?

PleaseGoDontGoAgain · 24/10/2021 22:29

Had the kid at 19 and just as I started wanting to go out clubbing again boom adult life happened, then a shitty relationship and after 2 more kids here I am at 41 and I haven't been to a nightclub or even a pub at night-time since 2009.

I am desperate to go out for a dance in a boozy, loud, crowded room and then stagger about outside for a bit chatting shit to people I don't know before falling into a taxi.

I remember there being older women about when I was clubbing but I'm told Women in their Forties now choose to sit in wine bars??

Please fill me in if you have been clubbing in the last 5 years...am I still allowed to get drunk and dance in public at 41?

YABU - Don't upset the young'uns by being old in the same room as them.
YANBU - Go out get drunk and dance before arthritis gets you.

I'm 37 and went out clubbing regularly pre covid so when I was thirty five or so.

Plenty of people a decade older than me in those clubs.

Get out-out.

Right now!

I go clubbing with my daughters. We use Pop World which plays a mix of cheesy old floor fillers and newer stuff.

Love it.

@needtodrinkmore love above&beyond! Went to the Drumsheds a few weeks ago.... just amazing!

Mid/late 40s and still love a big night out, last one a couple of weeks ago at a club night reunion (and it was an all nighter)
If you're into house/dance then the clockwork orange events are a good shout, crowd mostly easily 35+
Drink, dance and be happy 😎

LaurieFairyCake · 25/10/2021 00:19

I've not been to a nightclub for I think 17 years

Maybe I'd go to a 'disco' but not some sort of rap/house thing

A working men's club would be great, loads of older women dancing (literally) round their handbags Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 25/10/2021 00:20

There's a place in London does discos - it's called I haven't stopped dancing yet

I've been meaning to go

needtodrinkmore · 25/10/2021 00:25

@FrankiesKnuckle hello!! So amazing aren't they.. I've very jealous I couldn't make that one, did you see them at printworks London?

I have tickets for Amsterdam March 2022, can't wait.

In fact OP I have 2 spares, that would be going out out.

FrankiesKnuckle · 25/10/2021 00:36

@needtodrinkmore *waves!
I didn't go to the printworks one, my friend did though and we spent ages going through his pics and vids. Printworks is another great venue, couple of clockworks have been there.
I'm off to have a peruse of those European dates, Amsterdam you say?! 😎

Get out dancing! The great thing about clubbing is that you can just do it on your own, it’s not like sitting in a bar. I’ve gone out dancing many times on my own, I pick nice friendly clubs, over 40 you don’t get half the hassle younger women get. It’s great!

Scissor · 25/10/2021 00:43

50's back in from an arena gig 11.45 last night, yes a Sunday night, plenty there of every age.. I did dance a lot! Get out out.. Enjoy every minute

TimeForTeaAndG · 25/10/2021 00:48

I'm about to turn 40, I'll come out with you!

MidnightMeltdown · 25/10/2021 00:48

I'm in my mid thirties and hate the thought of going anywhere near a nightclub! Much prefer a nice wine bar...😂

However, I spent over a decade in my late teens and 20s going out all of the time, so think I got it out of my system. I can see why you want to go if you feel like you missed out a bit.

bethabean · 25/10/2021 00:56

I'm pregnant and only 21 and just here to say I'm loving reading all your commentsGrinit's making me really happy and I hope you do all go out and enjoy yourselfGlitterball

Please have a boogie and a shameless night without having a care in the worldWine

Time40 · 25/10/2021 01:05

52 here and I travel all over the world to go clubbing, I follow a dance act called above and beyond and they do the most amazing nights there is a whole community and everyone is included, there are people from 18-80 at the clubs when they are playing. If you love dance music you'd love this.. also clubbing is great It's dark.. and to be honest the generations below us are so accepting nobody cares or notices your age

@needtodrinkmore Thanks for the tip - it's nice to know that. I love Above and Beyond.

1forAll74 · 25/10/2021 01:09

I wouldn't mind going out now and then, but not to places that play today's kind of crap music.

DukeofEarlGrey · 25/10/2021 01:10

OP I’m 41 and wouldn’t give it a second thought. I don’t go out out but that’s because I’m a quiet soul and love sitting in wine bars / chatting / staying in etc BUT it would never occur to me that I couldn’t or shouldn’t! Get out there and enjoy yourself!

musicviking1 · 25/10/2021 01:31

Wow didn't realise there was an age limit, I'm 42 and if I could go I would. A friend of mine is 44 and travels abroad to go clubbing all the time. I really hate being in my 40s sometimes because everyone makes it feel so bloody old. :(

I see people older than 41 doing it - you're not exactly ancient!
Wegobshite · 25/10/2021 05:05

I’m older than you and was in a club last month
I follow a particular DJ so it’s a slightly older crowd but a great night out till around 4-am
I’m going to London in November for another one of his nights

cittigirl · 25/10/2021 06:49

I'm 55 and I think the last time I was an actual club was probably about 3 or 4 years ago but I regularly go to pubs and dance to the live music.

Catflapkitkat · 25/10/2021 07:00

If you are in London look up Sheen Resistance. DJ set that plays old school proper dance set. They have a huge following, older crowd, definitely about the music and dancing.

EllieSattler · 25/10/2021 07:02

I would be more inclined to go clubbing if it was a daytime thing. I've never been one for late nights but I'm not opposed to daytime drinking and dancing Grin
