To think that for £45 per child per day the nursery could at least be bothered to do their bl--dy poppers up?

On their vests?
It's inordinately trivial I know, but it is so sloppy and smacks of not caring.

It's happened a few times to ds, and to be fair he is very wriggly, so I've been sympathetic, but now dd comes home with them undone and she is perfectly co-operative so there's no excuse.

Thank God they are only there till the end of next week and then we'll be out of Kids Unlimited for good.

Come on someone, help bolster my sense of righteous indignation!

OP posts:
moondog · 10/12/2007 18:30

It is trivial.
Sorry.

3Dmincepie · 10/12/2007 18:31

I'm with you!!! I hate that sloppiness too, my dh does it sometimes and it drives me mad!!!

ProjectIcarus · 10/12/2007 18:33

YANBU. It makes you wonder what else they aren't doing.

Kathyate6mincepies · 10/12/2007 18:35

It's trivial and if it was a nursery where they clearly cared about the children, you would not bother about it too much - if they were too busy having fun with them to do up the poppers that would be fine.
Unfortunately, though, one suspects it's that they're just totally, utterly disengaged.

Exactly ProjectIcarus.

my brother used to get really cross because his LO always came home with her lunch around her mouth. He supplied wipes etc but they wouldnt clean her face. She has SN so wasnt able to do it herself as her co-ordination wasnt there! He didnt use poppers so that wasnt an issue

RubySlippedonastraymincepie · 10/12/2007 18:42

hmm - i am not sure

TBH i don't think poppers being undone is the the sign of a crappy, uncaring nursery

DS came home without the button of his trousers done up and i can't say it bothered me

Kathyate6mincepies · 10/12/2007 18:43

No but if you already know that they are crappy and uncaring, it becomes even more irritating.

RubySlippedonastraymincepie · 10/12/2007 18:45

well that is different!

i think if you are generally unhappy with the nursery you need to say something about your concerns

spokette · 10/12/2007 19:12

My DTS would often have their poppers underdone. Did not bother me because I know that they well cared for. I tend to save my indignation for things that really matter so imho, yabu. Sorry.

Kathyate6mincepies · 10/12/2007 19:21

Ruby, if you read my post you would see that I said they are leaving next week.

OP posts:
Kathyate6mincepies · 10/12/2007 19:28

Spokette - yes, I agree it's not important in the grand scheme of things and it is unreasonable to get so hung up on this one thing. It's a kind of last straw situation - like, they can't even get this right

(the was at the nursery, not you, obviously)

OP posts:
spokette · 10/12/2007 19:36

In your circumstances, I would leave too. Good luck in new nursery.

Kathy - YANBU. Clothes that aren't put on properly are uncomfortalbe.

Kathyate6mincepies · 10/12/2007 19:38

Thank you.

We're only here while dh is on sabbatical (hence not having a chance to research nurseries properly and get them into a good one) and we go home before Xmas anyway

Back to our lovely non-commerical one at home. Where everything is done on a shoestring, and the children are happy.

Kathyate6mincepies if it is important to you then it is important. iyswim

Kathyate6mincepies · 10/12/2007 19:58

Pitchounette - the ratio isn't even 1:3 for the older ones (dd), it's 1:6, so they are raking it in.

I wonder who gets all the money - are there lots of day nursery chain millionaires out there I wonder?

It's 50% more than our usual nursery, though that is in a cheaper part of the country.

OP posts:
Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 10/12/2007 20:12

blimey dds nursery is £20 for the day and ratio is 3 adults to 8 children in over 2s and 1 to 3 in babies.

Kathyate6mincepies · 10/12/2007 20:13

Is that in a cheap part of the country Nemo? Is it a chain or an independent one?

OP posts:
Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 10/12/2007 20:20

independent one in northwest but even cant see why fees would be £45
