Should I email after interview?

Hello all, I had a really good interview on Wednesday and they said they were hoping to make a quick decision. I’ve still not heard anything (Saturday) and am wondering whether I should email to check in?
It’s for a Director role so no idea if there’s different rules for that!

Yes- unreasonable to email
No- perfectly reasonable to email saying thanks and asking when I might hear?

I really want this job so trying not to jump the gun.

Should say the CEO was very old school (but nice). The type of person not comfortable with home working but is coming round etc. Does that paint a picture?

It's a director post and I wanted the job, I'd have emailed the day after the email saying lovely to meet, impressed with org, enjoyed the challenge of the interview blah blah.

I would wait until Wednesday. I know it’s frustrating, but chasing after a week seems reasonable, whereas chasing over a weekend after only two working days could come across as pushy.

Good luck!

As an interviewer, I appreciate a follow up email within 24 hours of the interview if it shows genuine interest, eg “I was really interested to hear about your new initiatives helping clients do X as that’s an area I think my skills of Y would be well suited to.” It might sway us if having difficulty deciding between two candidates. Hopefully you asked at end of interview when you would hear and so will know if they have by now interviewed all candidates. If they have and you haven’t heard then probably they have offered to someone else and are waiting for acceptance before rejecting others. Unless it’s a large firm that has swathes of processes / layers of management it has to go through before offering the appointment.

I'd follow up with a 'great to meet you, loved the company and the prospect of [doing whatever adds value for them, highlighting your best skills] is genuinely exciting to you. Look forward to hearing from them.

Nothing to lose by doing that as long as it is wholly positive and doesn't sound like you are chasing them, but thanking them for considering you.
