I started using a hot water bottle when I was around 15/16 years old and would only use it during the first couple of days of my period as my cramps used to be really intense. I'd never use it at any other time and never used it to warm up my bed or anything like that.
During my first pregnancy last year, I had really bad morning/motion sickness and would use my hot water bottle every night on my stomach. When mentioning this to my midwife she told me to not use it anymore in case it caused damage to the baby so of course I stopped immediately. I also had really bad SPD so would use my hot water bottle on my back which helped ever so slightly.
Fast forward to now and I'm in my second pregnancy with extreme SPD! I'm using my hot water bottle every night for my back and my poor DP is sweating through the night, hardly sleeping because he's so hot.
I honestly just think I have some sort of attachment to my hot water bottle and need advice on how to get rid! Last night I didn't even have it on my back, I just had it near my legs bothering DP as usual.
It's like, if I don't sleep with it, I feel lonely😂 it barely does anything to help my SPD and I think it's more of a placebo thing.
I'm also like this with the fan. We have a hand fan that is really strong and every night I have the fan on the second setting at the top of the bed.
I'm not hot or anything I just like the vibration of it once it's on! When charging the fan it also has a bright red light which shines on DPs face every night.
So poor DP has a red light shining on his face and a hot water bottle in the bed keeping him super hot and preventing him from getting a good night's sleep.
Does anyone have any advice or has anyone gone through something similar?
I tried a night without the fan and the hot water bottle and I couldn't sleep! Once I had them back in the bed with me I slept fine. I feel like a loony and ever so sorry for poor DP!!
