And then wanted to put it straight into DD's mouth !

I'm shocked.

This is not normal and I should get rid, shouldn't I ?

She's doing a few trial days..

No way. Apart from the risk of herpes to a young child, adult mouths have bacteria that causes tooth decay. You want to delay that bacteria from getting to your child's mouth for as long as possible.

I’d talk to her about it before getting rid. Maybe she had previous families where it was fine.

Really? And if they were ok with it, that doesn't make it right! It makes her sound inexperienced and unqualified for the job.

I have done this..and dummies. But no, not good from a nanny

worriedatthemoment · 22/10/2021 18:12

I agree wouldn't be impressed with a nanny doing this especially with covid
But def done with my own especially with a dummy when dropped as kids put all sorts in their mouth

julieca · 22/10/2021 18:23

I wouldnt have an issue with this.

TuftyMarmoset · 22/10/2021 18:25

@HollowTalk as in, maybe it didn’t occur to her that it wouldn’t be ok if she think it’s ok and her previous families did too. I couldn’t get that worked up about it personally, certainly not enough to sack her without even discussing it. Would do it for my own child without even thinking about it.

julieca · 22/10/2021 18:53

What is the difference between a mum and a nanny doing this? A good nanny will be kissing your child just as a mum does. She is not a stranger.

HazelandChacha · 22/10/2021 18:54

Grim.
Even pre Covid I wouldn’t be happy with that.

julieca · 22/10/2021 18:54

I agree she is inexperienced. She hasn't learned the first lesson of being a nanny.
Lots of parents expect way higher standards of you than they do of themselves.

MeredithGreyishblue · 22/10/2021 18:56

Bleurgh. Would make me question her hygiene. That's grim
