Hi,mum of 5 , my dad is visiting at least twice a week he doesn’t wash hands or flush toilet and seems to be visiting any place he can (we are opposite) (youngest has asthma and always catching things etc)we know covid is about and he doesnt seem to care ( double vaccinated) he doesnt seem to care about our concerns etc and only cares about passing the time until he visits someone else!
Am i being u reasonable when i say i dont want him visiting??

Five children in school is a way bigger risk than your dad visiting.

SpangoDweller · 22/10/2021 07:17

@Onthelowdown

Not washing hands or flushing are both independently unforgivable even without covid. Horrible.
This, I think covid is a red herring. Anyone - even a family member - who consistently refused to flush the toilet wouldn’t be allowed back tbh.

OP hasn’t mentioned any underlying health conditions so it’s fair to assume there are none in the family.

Visiting people and pubs is allowed now. You shouldn’t penalise someone following rules. Plus he’s double vaccinated.

The person taking most covid risks in this situation is you, by allowing children to go to school. But again you are also following rules, so conversely it would be wrong for your father to penalise you.

The hand washing and flushing is a separate entity, not really covid related.

She did say one of her children is asthmatic.

Make him sanitise his hands at the door before coming in the house.

But with 5 kids at school YABU over the rest.

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/10/2021 07:55

Even without the risk of Covid that is grim.

NeonTetras · 22/10/2021 10:38

@Waxonwaxoff0

It's grim not to wash your hands and flush after using the toilet but since Covid is airborne you wouldn't catch it that way.

He is perfectly allowed to go to the pub and YABU for judging that.

It's normal for some people to not care about catching Covid, yes. I don't care if I catch it, I've already had it and don't care if I get it again. I wash my hands for hygiene reasons, not Covid reasons.

I don't care if I catch it

So you don't have any vulnerable loved ones?

I've already had it and don't care if I get it again.

At least 2 posters on this site have said they got it twice and it was far worse the second time. But if you don't care about yourself, permanent lung damage and scarring or your loved ones and how sick they could get if they get it, you do you I guess. But I don't know anyone who doesn't 'care'. That's not normal unless someone is completely selfish to a sociopathic level.
