Cholestasis pregnancies

I'm 16 weeks into pregnancy and in my last one I developed cholestasis towards the end which resulted in being induced at 37 weeks and having a very traumatic delivery, eventually resulting in EMCS.

I've been led to believe that the chances of getting this condition in subsequent pregnancies is high. Would they still deliver early and if that happened would I be able to request a c section rather then going through induction again? I'm willing to try for a vaginal birth if all goes smoothly but if I have to be induced early again due to this condition I think I would rather opt for elective section than risk a birth like before.

Yes you should be able to ask for a csection. You will likely be consultant led anyway as they will have to undertake a risk assessment to see whether you can have a VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section)

Yes I will be consultant led but yet to see them and my midwife said they will probably recommend a VBAC. Just feel really worried about the same thing happening again

Similar thing happened with me op. I had cholestasis and was induced early. This lead to a horrendous birth, 3rd degree tear and huge blood loss. Fell pregnant with ds 8 years later and was told the likelyhood was that it would return. It did and I pushed for a c section. They did try to talk me out of it saying that the next birth was unlikely to be so bad but tbh I think they were just saying that as how could they predict that?! Anyway, I wasn't prepared to risk it so i stood my ground and I had a planned c section and it was dream compared to my first birth!
