Tilly Ramsey being commented on by ageing male Broadcaster!

Enjoyed watching Tilly over the last few weeks . Did well last week and seems to be enjoying herself .Why then does Steve Allen(67 years old and not exactly an oil painting!) feel the need to comment on her weight "Shes a chubby little thing" he was overheard saying about her. Really gets me annoyed!

I would never normally comment on his appearance or any bloke like him, there are millions who look like that anyway. But I think if you make personal and unnecessary comments about someone's appearance publicly then you invite that kind of personal comment about your own appearance or character.

Plus there is a serious problem in this country, and probably around the world, with fuck ugly men thinking they are God's gift to the world and that they have a right to comment on any woman or girl who does not provide fodder for their mental wank bank.

Not that it is any better if a good looking man does it, but it seems particularly pot/kettle if the person making the comment is a right ugly fucker.

Fine, so point out that they shouldn't be commenting on appearance.

My kids have watched Tilly's shows for years, she's got a long-running show on CBBC and I think she's pretty famous.

Never heard of this bloke before, and liable to forget him as soon as I hit 'Post', but it's yet another example of men feeling entitled to judge women - particularly young women - and hold us to standards that they can't attain themselves. Hypocritical creeps.

Allen opened the door. He invited comment on his appearance, when he , with no good reason, commented disparagingly and publicly on another person's appearance.

I think the appearance of the man making the comment is relevant. OP is highlighting a sexist double standard - a woman’s sole purpose is to be ornamental and pleasing to the male gaze, but male appearance doesn’t matter - which is why a man 50 years older than Tilly thinks he’s entitled to pass comment on her body.

Don't know Steve Allen, don't listen to LBC (there is a world outside London), but this is all wrong. By drawing attention to his comments, saying they're out of order, and then commenting on his appearance is just feeding into the general idea that perfection is being young and slim.

He's somebody on the Nobody is Listening shift at LBC radio, whose earlier pronouncements include that Max Clifford couldn't possibly have been a sex offender, he just liked trying to help those fat little girls from council estates.

Those people saying that Gordon Ramsey should get involved....given his history of rudeness to others, I am not really sure he would be able to take the moral high ground here.

How vile of this man. I got the impression that Tilly Ramsey was rather lacking in confidence, and finding that she was able to dance gave her a real boost (and I think she danced rather well).

This commenting on the appearance of women is typical of some men who think they are God's gift even when they are most evidently not.
