How will they help the spread of Covid?

Italian poll just on news:
66% happy with Covid passes
22% no view one way or the other
18% not happy.

I was in Italy recently and it worked very smoothly. Mask compliance on public transport and in museums etc was almost universal and the Green Pass scanning was quick and easy. Cases are much lower there. Over 12s have also been eligible for both vaccinations for a while and masks are still obligatory in schools.

@Changer123

Passports wont help to reduce transmission at all, a negative test result would be much more helpful as a vaccinated person can be infected & infect others. I'm double vaccinated but the idea of medical domestic passports concerns me alot
Yep, this. With the passports, there is the assumption that vaccinated people can not possibly have and spread Covid. Testing everyone is a better thing to do.
wombwithawiew · 20/10/2021 19:54

Testing everyone before entering all indoor places is not feasible.

Having a vaccine passport OR a test to get into somewhere IS feasible. As demonstrated by many countries.

Is your argument that if it's not 100% effective we shouldn't bother? If so, how do you live your life because virtually nothing in life is 100% certain.

underneaththeash · 20/10/2021 20:01

Well they obviously will help as if you're fully vaccinated many people have (approx) 67% less chance of catching Covid. But it varies.

We have the option of just ploughing through - my preference, but it could backfire.
Or not ploughing through and then everyone has a crap time....

It’s depressing most people dont seem concerned about the handover of liberties that ha e just happened.
I fear for our children

EileenGC · 20/10/2021 20:28

Handover of liberties? Which liberties am I handing over?

Eating in a restaurant or attending a football match aren't liberties. They're privileges.

I don’t think they will. On the contrary, they will hinder the spread. Which is kind of the point unless I’m missing something obvious 🤷‍♂️

I've been re-given the liberty of travel, restaurants, museums, theatres, school, university, parties, nightclubs, cinemas, football matches etc. And I'm thankful each and every day.
