To ask how reliable nub theory is

Last week I had my 12 week scan and because I'm horribly impatient decided to use a website to tell me their gender predictions based on the nub theory. I paid £10.

After doing a bit of research I understood it wasn't accurate but that there is some science behind it. I got my results and was chuffed but I noticed a disclaimer saying 'this website is for entertainment only and we do not offer a set accuracy rate'. So does this mean that I should take it with a pinch of salt? Has anyone else used one of these sites and had accurate results or was it wrong? They did offer an annotation on my scan picture so it's clearly been looked at and analysed but I've basically just wasted a tenner haven't I?

It is very reliable, if the picture is clear and the scan is at the right time. It is especially good for predicting boys (if the nub has already risen). Go to the ingender website and someone experienced will do it for free. Sometimes you can get incorrect girl guesses if the nub just hasn't risen yet, but a boy guess is very likely to be true.
The sonographer at the fetal medical centre said they use it so it's not woo.

Like with anything, paying a randomer on the internet is never a good idea!

Mine was right nub said boy and I had a boy…I’ve researched it myself and guessed friends and family’s scan pics going by nub theory and there always correct. So I believe it actually.

Someone on here guessed mine at 12 weeks and was right

I posted to two sites and both said girl (and it was), appreciate that could be chance though!

If you send me £10 I will be able to predict the accuracy of their prediction for you.

That’s £10 you’ll never see again. Maybe I’m old fashioned but I don’t understand this need to know the sex - I’m waiting to see as it has zero importance

Roselilly36 · 06/03/2023 07:12

Wildly inaccurate, someone I knew, really wanted a girl, had scan, told boy, at a later scan, she was asked if she wanted to know the babies sex and she said I know it’s a boy, they said no it’s a girl, and she was. I was told boy, at 20wks with both of my two and they were right.
