Why are all tween clothes cropped?!

My daughter is 11.5 and I don't want her wearing cropped T-shirt's and jumpers! She's a kid! Where sells normal kids fitting clothes?!

Where are you looking? I don't have any issues buying non cropped tops.

Seeline · 19/10/2021 15:54

Boy's department probably Sad

WholeClassKeptIn · 19/10/2021 15:58

Yup. We found that too. Why?!

22Giraffes · 19/10/2021 16:04

I have exactly the same problem OP, dd has no desire to wear crop tops/jumpers but that's all we seem to find. They used to be a specific item of clothing on their own but now even jumpers that come as part of a tracksuit are cropped. It's rubbish.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 19/10/2021 16:06

John Lewis, H&M, Joules, Uniqlo, Boden, New look, Next, Vans, Element are places I've bought my 12 yr old things in the past couple of years.

Pumpkinseedpesto · 19/10/2021 16:10

Yes! Same problem here. I have a very tall 8 and a half year old. She’s wearing 10-11 year old stuff but it’s so hard to find anything suitable.

woodpecker2 · 19/10/2021 16:10

I feel your pain, it rules out most of the sweatshirts and hoodies at H&M. She doesn’t want crop tops and I wouldn’t want her wearing one all the time either.

Winniemarysarah · 19/10/2021 16:11

Cropped tops are more common for younger girls nowadays op, you can’t pretend that it’s really that difficult to find any that aren’t though.

toadstool32 · 19/10/2021 16:12

@Winniemarysarah hmm have you been to the high street recently?

Has she tried them on? Lots are cropped at the moment, by that I mean waist length, but there are loads of things that don’t give a gap above jeans.

But then there is a whole oversized movement too. And lots of just normal sweatshirts.

Eg

H and M and New Look were full of them last time we went (a few weeks ago?) Hard to find anything decent length. We'd fine a top she'd like and then go "oh."

TacoTues · 19/10/2021 16:17

Just bought plenty of winter clothes. M&S. John Lewis. Next. H&M

None cropped.

SheWoreYellow · 19/10/2021 16:18

Here’s one that’s cropped but not skin-exposing (IME, obv depends a bit on jeans styles and body shape). Some of the issue might be that you’re discounting things that aren’t actually a problem.

WholeClassKeptIn · 19/10/2021 16:23

My daughter doesnt like tops that short she wore yellow, even if not skin exposing, which is why its a problem. Everythings suddenly higher up!

Yes, every single day

I’m going to turkey over the half term and had to kit out 2 girls in summer AND winter clothes in one go, also no issues. Saying that my girls are the ones that are drawn to the crop tops and it’s me putting my foot down Grin

Uniqlo is really good for affordable slogan-free, non-cropped kidswear.

Boulshired · 19/10/2021 17:06

DD at 19 still doesn’t like exposed midriff but she loves cropped tops in a layer form and wears jeans that seem to rise to her bra. Unfortunately until people stop buying them or the fashion changes then shop buy to sell.
