I feel the same when posters begin threads with ‘Please be kind’. Despite AIBU’s reputation, I still think more people are kind than unkind - and anyone who was planning to be unkind is unlikely to have their mind changed by this request.

If you don't like it you don't have to read the thread. People generally use it when they need support and from what I have seen on Mumsnet, a lot of kind souls offer a listening ear on here. Atleast 'handhold' in the title will give you an idea of the type of thread it is. Unlike yours.
