Where is he going & how many of them? I don't think I'd be happy either.

MissEm · 09/12/2007 21:35

You are so not being neurotic or unreasonable, when my dd goes on a school trip I take the day off work and go as a helper, and that is with the teacher going. That is neurotic.

On a farm trip I can't go as have my other one of school ill a friends mum has said she will keep an eye on him. 30 of them are going

depends on how many other helpers are going.
At that age, and on somewhere like a farm I would have thought they will need loads of help - Probably 3:1 child to adult ratio

Is your ds 4 or is he your 4th son?

There should be a ratio of adults: children so I'm sure he'll be fine .

ineedapoo · 09/12/2007 21:41

he is 4

I think at 4, there are 2 children to an adult. I'm sure he'll be fine. Do you know the child he'll be paired with?

DD went on a farm trip with her pre-school when she was nearly 4. I think about 20 children went and they had lots of staff and helpers. Went on a coach, with packed lunch, and were gone from 9am until 3.30pm.
She had a whale of a time. They were super hot on each child having an adult (think was 3 children per adult) and did a fair amount of prep-work in the coach about staying together and following instructions.

hercules1 · 09/12/2007 21:46

Seems rather unusual. As far as I know there has to be a teacher.

POOKAingwenceslaslookedout · 09/12/2007 21:47

But might have been 2 children per adult. Am blushing because I didn't even ask! But am very confident in her pre-school and know that dd is safe when with them.

ggirlsbells · 09/12/2007 21:49

I would have no problem with this.

As long as teacher /child ratios are covered I don't see a problem.

chill

I helped on a farm trip when my dd was 4 and I had her plus a little boy to mind. My main concern was how could I help him if he needed help in the toilet! Now I get 4 children to mind on trips which is about 1 more than I'm comfortable looking after.
