When you see a good looking guy with a mess attractive woman

We comment (me and DH) that people are generally equal to each other in terms of attractiveness but quite often DH will say "He's punching" if he thinks the woman is comparatively more attractive.

The last time it happened I can remember thinking " oh this is an interesting couple... Then I got to know the woman and OMG her personality she is amazing. I 100% get why he is with her.

My dh thinks I'm better looking, I think he is. I've no idea what anyone else thinks but until this thread I've never really thought about it. We find each other attractive, that's the only thing that matters isn't it?

I think of Pierce Brosnan, Roger Federer and Hugh Jackman and reckon that she has personality in spades and the man isn’t shallow.

No one looks hot at 95 so best not to pick looks over personality!

Keeley Shaw Smith is beautiful, she has just put on weight so I don't look at Pierce as punching.

I like to see it and I think about how beauty is different for all of us.

I have a friend who is not ‘typically’ attractive. She is very large, short and doesn’t care much about fashion. Her DH is typically handsome, tall and slim.
They laugh constantly and adore each other. She is the nicest person you could ever meet, funny and kind. (HE is definitely punching above HIS weight and knows it!) 😄
I’ve heard a couple of people (who don’t know her) comment and I just think they haven’t a clue. I’ve never met such a perfectly matched couple.

I think that they must like each others personalities and have fallen in love?

My husband always looks better than me if we go out. It's because he just gets himself ready and hogs the bathroom.
I get myself and DD ready. Make sure the dog and cats are fed. Let the dog out. Wrap present / write card if its an occasion.
I hope people look at us and think he's a selfish arse for not giving me time to look after myself.

I'd say DP used to be punching with me, but now we're in our late 20s we've definitely evened out. I'd say it's likely he will become better looking in our 40s.

Well if it is noticeable it catches my eye i think he has no charisma, no sense of humour, no game.
Or maybe that he is controlling/jealous/insecure

Looks fade but love remains as my mum would say.

Tbh I probably give more thought when there seems to be an obvious personality mismatch between a couple like one is happy and bubbly and the other is surly and sour or one seems to be able to hold an intelligent conversation and can't. I wonder how their relationship works but you can't make a relationship work off of looks alone so I don't think that that is an important factor.

That nature has taken its course, he’s aged like a fine wine and she’s gone the same way as most of us!

My DH is 100% more attractive than me. Massively so! However I get people saying “how do you put up with him?” almost daily as he’s a massive dickhead…constantly joking and messing about making a tit of himself.

I'd think nothing of it. But I would find it odd if say the woman was Widdecombe and her partner was say Harry Styles.
