to wonder how people find zombie threads?

I keep seeing them! Threads from years ago, that someone has posted on. And not just "any update OP?" posts. People are posting on them as if they're current, having not noticed the date.
It's easy to miss the date of course, but I wonder how people find the thread to resurrect it in the first place, given that it must be pages and pages down the screen!
If you've ever accidentally been the first poster on a zombie thread, how did you discover the thread?

OP posts:

Because people who don't live on MN Google specific issues and find relevant threads.
They sadly haven't passed the entrance test, what with having lives etc, and so open themselves up to the twattery that comes from regulars shouting at them and making them feel like shit for not understanding how a rolling AC works.

I've been here since 2003.

@JaninaDuszejko

Example of the warning message.
I don't think there's any warning in the tablet app.

It happens all the time in baby names. I imagine someone is looking up names, ends up on a ten year old thread and replies to that. I think that threads with no activity should be locked after a certain amount of time.

I googled something the other day, I think it was an old TV program and one of the results was a mn review from 4cyears ago. I had a look but didnt see any names I recognized.

QueenBee52 · 14/10/2021 16:02

the ones I've seen appeared in my Active feed...

So weird I agree

also...

I hide lots of threads... like loads to clear my 'Threads Im On' on my iphone...

give it a few days and they ALL reappear ..., its soooooooo frustrating I keep 'hiding' them and back they come.. 😩

Yeah, Google I think, in the most part. I don’t see the problem with a lot of zombie threads though. Some are weird and annoying, like if an OP is asking for advice on a specific problem which has obviously now passed and people spend time giving good advice that is irrelevant. But the ones on more universal issues like weaning, product recommendations etc are mostly still relevant years later so don’t see what the issue is in their resurrection!

@PinkWaterBottle2021

Yes there’s one now about a pregnant lurcher. Posted in 2014.

Who was googling that???

It was resurrected by a spammer.
