To think GPs should do their job

Just heard the news that £250million is to be made available to GPs to 'increase the amount of face to face appointments'. AIBU to think this is just extra cash for doing their job?

Recently my sister, a nurse, was very sick with very dodgy symptoms, told to come back in 2 weeks for bloods had to walk past staff in gp surgery doing nothing, the surgery had an echo in it, it was so empty...it was 11 am. They refused to let her take the bottles to get a colleague to do her bloods. She went privately after this. The whole of the NHS needs investment but every election the tories get re-elected. Average voter doesn't realise how much of the NHS is being sold off under the radar by the tories to their monied mates . No one is reporting this. It will only become evident when you really need it. Covid has expedited this process. By the time people wake up it will be too late. Enjoy paying for appointments and elevated medication fees and paying for your scans and xrays. Have a look at the bills experienced in the US for healthcare, it is on its way here, without a doubt.

Oh an NHS bashing thread again. GP’s turn this time. For goodness sake they are understaffed, doing all they can to see as many patients as possible using online services. Why do you need to see a gp to discuss symptoms if you are otherwise fit and healthy?? Yes others have stressful jobs too, but not many had to manage their ever increasing workloads in a pandemic and be skilled enough to make a call when a patient needs to be seen face to face or otherwise. Threads like this are purposely whipping up bad feelings towards people who are trying to do their jobs helping others.

@NotPersephone apologies that meant to say why do you need to see them in person. Not why do you need to see them. I’m sorry about your diagnosis and hope you are well now.
