That a grazing table will end up looking a bit shit?

Looking for catering for a party, will be children and adults and all I keep being offered are grazing tables/platters. Having not experienced one first hand I'm worried that though it will start looking beautiful once the guests start digging in it will look a mess and maybe bit unsanitary?

YABU - they look fab and stay looking fabulous (if a little disheveled by the end of the party)

YANBU - Wasteful fad crawling with germs, find an old style caterer.

They look as though someone didn't chew their food properly, then threw up.
@RedScarletPoppy - I think you know what I mean. You want the bread in the middle, but it looks very awkward without touching umpteen other items. I'm just commenting on the inconvenience of the whole set up. I am aware of the concept of self service.
There's really no need to be rude.
That was rude. Sorry.

They're gross. They're so unhygienic. It's my idea of hell to be expected to eat from one

@Bluntness100

I really don’t understand the issue it’s no different to any other buffet finger food. Which also touches and people use their hands, be it a bowl of bread on.
Yes exactly. Both are fucking filthy and disgusting.

They always have been (google studies of faecal matter found in communal food servings) but now because of Covid, most people have a higher awareness of hygene issues.

And to those banging on about serving implements - get really - some polite people do use them, but at these kind of events, lots of people don't bother and say "'scuse fingers" as they poke around grabing slice of cold meats etc. It only takes one or two of these people to mean you could be eating other peoples bits of shit or urine or nose-pick or eye-wipe material on your crisps or mini sandwich.

Where alcohol is served and as people get drunker, even those who started off politely using the serving tools bin them.

Seriously, it's obviously a gross thing and the people rabbidly defending them are obviously those who had them at their own wedding/parties (or sell them) and are trying to kid themselves that the majority of people don't find them and their filthy grazing tables/finger buffets disgusting!

@Wearethechampionsmyfriend

I recently went to a hen night and the grazing table was set out beautifully and lasted all night. I'd definitely recommend one.
Come off it. We know you mean:

-I recently went to- At my own hen night.

LOL. It's transparent - not least from the photo.

Look at the way the biscuits and fruit are stacked for example. you can't take them without your hands touching or brushing other items - unless you are seriously concentrating and using tweezers - which no one does.

The people defending these things are so funny. They are just gross.
& even if you don't think so - it's quite clear that a large amount of people think they are.

So whatever you think about them, face up to the fact that a healthy chunk of your guest will view your serving choices as a little bit skanky.
