But why? It makes no difference to me. It's not even on my street. They aren't my neighbours.

Yes it irks me every day when I drive past it.

It's been leant up against their fence for weeks and weeks and now a washing machine has joined it.

Reminds me of Shameless.

'Cut it up into pieces'... hi, whoever said that, have you TRIED cutting a mattress up into pieces?... No? Go try it...

We had one outside ours for 3 weeks, no there's no option to keep it inside the house until collection day, if I do that then Im restricted to just one room as it would block my wheelchair route.

Council said they'd pick it up in two days time... 3 weeks later they still hadn't, by which point its soggy despite the plastic cover.

I got a friend with a van in the end and even THAT is a pain in the bum as the tip won't let in 'commercial vehicles' and his is actually a personal vehicle not commercial (he just likes vans!)...

Absolute pain in the arse, and none of it down to being idle, lazy, scruffy... whatever.

SE, didn't know it was called uplift!

But we have to pay £70 for up to 4 items to be collected by the council.

The won't give a day or time, but if the my can't access it then they will leave it and still charge!

We also have to pay extra for the garden waste bin on top of council tax. This also isn't collected fortnightly as advertised and they don't come back until the next time.

If you don't pay then they won't take garden refuse or even cut flowers.

Can we do a poll? My council is Tory,
Mum lives in a Labour area and doesn't have the same issues. Grin

@Jouleigh your council are absurd

I would be wound up as well. It is inconvenient but you keep that indoors until the council come.

My awful ex neighbor fly tipped mattresses and junk in the lane at the bottom of our backyards. Because of course magically someone was going to take it away.

If it's in the street I'd contact environmental health.

That’s fine if you know when it will be collected. Our council ask you to leave it outside in your garden and it will be collected ‘within 28 days’…we had to chase them up and it took 5 weeks. We didn’t get told when they were coming at all, I happened to look outside to see two guys chucking it in a flatbed truck.

It will become a nesting site for vermin soon

StoneofDestiny · 11/10/2021 21:58

It’s not affecting you in any way. Let it go

No wonder some areas get run down fast.
