Why are some people so horrible?

Waiting for a parking space in local forest car park. There aren't many, it's always busy at weekend.

I'd been waiting with two young kids in the car about 10mins. Black BMW also waiting although he'd only just arrived.

Man returns to car, reverses out, BMW zooms into space before I can. He could see I was waiting it was done quite aggressively.

I got out and said excuse me I've been waiting longer. "So what" shrugged his shoulders. Woman he was with just laughed. Both fairly aggressive, I felt quite intimidated and then uncomfortable walking in the forest (once we finally got a space!) They then proceeded to wait for friends so it's not like they were in a hurry.

I think people are generally 'good' but when an opportunity arises to gain something quickly at the expense of another person they will abandon virtue and take it. He knew he was wrong, that's why he had no answer for his behaviour other than a shrug off. He just didn't have the strength to choose patience over impulse. I know how upsetting it can be!

Happened to me years ago. DS was tiny, mum had just had a stroke, I was trying to get parked to do Xmas shopping. Baby was crying in the back, wanted feeding, so I was desperate to find a spot. Has been visibly waiting near a bay, hazards in etc. Twatty man in a sports car did the same as the ops scenario and nipped in, even though I actually had my reversing lights on and had started to manoeuvre. I know he wouldn't have known about the baby, my mum or anything but still. I gave up, drove away from the shops to park up and feed DS and cry. It was 12 years ago but I still remember it. Arsehole (the gender neutral option) 😂
