Good quality toys for second daughter age 2 for Christmas!

Posting for traffic!

I have no idea what to get my 2 year old for Christmas. I have a 5 year old daughter as well so she has all her old toys (toy kitchen, puzzles, dolls etc etc- she has loads of toys!).

Her speech isn’t great so she can’t communicate what she wants v well. She loves peppa pig but has loads of old peppa toys from DD1. I’m going to get her a scooter/balance bike but need idea for a couple of other things.

I’m so so keen not to get tat. I don’t mind plastic as long as it’s decent quality and will be played with ++. So does anyone have any toys their 2 year old LOVED? She’s fairly easy going and plays with anything (I’m not fussed on ‘girly’ things at all happy for any toys!). We don’t go wild with toys at Christmas so normally they get 5-6 each and a little stocking but happy to get 1 bigger thing if there’s something good.

DD1 has asked for some specific things and I don’t want her to have a small pile of fab toys and DD2 to have random stuff I’ve panic bought for her!

Thanks!

I'm in same position! It's also her birthday next week so I've got to think of two lots of things.

I have bought her some My Little Pony bits off of Facebook and a sticker book for her birthday but literally can't think of anything else

I know MIL has bought her a dolls cot and my sister is going to get some new bath toys.

Does she like doing any crafty things that you could top up anything you've got with?

Happyland house or Playmobil 123 set. Wow toys are great and cheap.

FuzzyPenguin · 09/10/2021 07:59

I came on to recommend wow toys too. They are amazing, lasted from when my DS was 1-6! And now they are being played with by my niece. They none battery but some still have moving parts, they are great.

Happyland or playmobil 123 would be gifts she could use for several years. If you're gett3her a balance bike I don't think she really needs much more than a few stocking fillers.

Reusable sticker books are also good for this age. Honestly though if you have lots of stuff and she's happy to play with it then don't get sucked into buying more stuff just for the sake of it.

I'm with @FuckingFlumps don't buy stuff. We have 2 DD and toys got passed down so it was always a struggle at Xmas. I solved it by buying clothes. At 2 she'll not care. DD2 got a winter coat from us one year!

Honestly, at 2 she will like anything in a big box with wrapping on. Not sure why the stress , if you are getting her a scooter surely that's enough.

Mine has started baking with me so I found a lovely wooden toy baking set for her 2nd birthday from JoJo which will be her main present www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/wooden-mixer-baking-set-e6523.html

CarryOnNurse20 · 09/10/2021 12:46

Thanks I’ll have a look at playmobil 123 and wow toys!

I get what people are saying about stuff and completely agree. We don’t buy toys all year other than birthday and Christmas so I do like to get them a few bits to open! Stocking is usually hair clips, knickers, socks and bath bombs so I like them to have a couple of toys to open! Won’t go mad though.

Duplo
Happyland/Wow

What we did for DD2 is but little add ons for inherited toys... so her own wooden engine for the train set, her own doll, her own dress up set etc.
(We still sort of do this, for example if they both like the same books we buy them different ones in the series and they share)

ChristmasPlanning · 09/10/2021 13:12

Could you get her a new cuddly toy? Does she like to shuffle? She's about a nice wooden jigsaw or train set?

I've never heard of Wow toys. What are the best ones for 2 year olds?

Marvellousmadness · 09/10/2021 13:18

Bunny boo. It is an educational but fun game and it absolutely amazing. Plus she can grow into it so to speak :)

And if I am honest, if she is also getting a scooter:that will do the trick. Quality over quantity Smile

Books. Clothes. Cuddly toy. Something for her bedroom. A game (from Orchard Games). Sticker book. Bath crayons.

Ellmau · 09/10/2021 13:57

What about a rocking horse?

Zogthebiggestdragon · 09/10/2021 14:02

Playmobil 123 has some water toys which are amazing, we've had so much use out of them. If you register for the playmobil newsletter you get a 15% off code but I'm holding out for a 25% off day which they do occasionally.
