About three months ago my mums leg swelled up suddenly. Only in one leg, she has had a dvt before.
Her gp said they arent seeing anyone so dm went to the local hospital to check for a dvt. No dvt was found so that was the end of it. Then a few weeks ago she got a sore on that leg and its developed into a abscess.
She is getting it dressed by nurses but the gp still will not see her and there is zero interest in finding out why this is happening.
The nurse has asked dm if her heart is ok. But no idea if they think its circulation so I have told dm to ask them if she needs her heart checked.
I am wondering really if the NHS doesnt really do underlying reasons anymore? That's how I feel with my gp too. Treat a heart attack, treat a abscess, deal with a stroke but no real interest in seeing if your about to have a major event.
I have told my dm.to be more proactive and ask the questions but mum is happy to leave it to see if the abscess clears up. There was no injury at all so I would be wondering what caused it myself.
But I think the NHS is only great if your in a crisis. Prevention of crisis isnt great at all. If she has vascular circulatory issues is it just cheaper to leave her to have a major event? Surely prevention is cheaper?
