It’s on my inner thigh and it’s a proper killer!

Picture included although it’s not in a great place Blush

It’s soft and spongy to touch. It’s very painful when I walk.

I’ve drawn a circle around it in case the redness spreads.

I get these all the time. The GP will not prescribe antibiotics for this. Unless it starts to track.

Haven't all the other posters heard about antibiotic resistance from overuse??

They are awful but it's usually an ingrown hair. A pin won't be sharp enough. You need a scalpel blade to get through the skin. If you do decide to lance it yourself don't expect tons of cheesy pus. It will most likely be blood and pus mixed together.

I just googled "Sporner Corner". I need to bleach my eyes now. OP, a hot flannel and some wound dressings would be a good plan. Like others though, I can never resist a flame-sterilised needle in such circumstances. And therefore am staying away from Sporner Corner...

I had one of these. In a more.. Ahem.. Intimate area not to far from yours. It hurt when I sat down! Antibiotics won't fix this as whatever caused it while still be inside. It will just flare up again after you stop taking them. Don't listen to what some other poster said about a scalpel, it could go too deep and push the nasty stuff in further or cause scarring.
I used a pin and I swear the relief was instant. Get a hot flannel on it, hot as you can't stand without being uncomfortable. Leave it on the thing for about 20 mins to soften the skin. If you have alcohol swabs you can swab it and the needle. Gently push the pin in to break the surface. When you squeeze it don't squeeze the raised 'nipple' part. Squeeze well away from it, on your leg do you don't push it deeper. Once it's drained keep it clean, wear a bandage over it to stop it rubbing while it heals.
