To not want to miss DS's first Nativity on Wednesday even though I potentially have 'flu?

I REALLY REALLY don't want to miss it - I am house-bound til Wednesday to see if it passes in time.

AIBU to be mightily pissed off that I get sick this week of ALL weeks?

Are you worried that you'll be too ill to sit through it or that you'll pass your germs on to others?
By Wednesday you probably wouldn't be contagious anymore and you can take precautions, like not sitting too close to anyone else.
Hope you're better in time and you enjoy the performance.

Alambil · 07/12/2007 21:17

The latter mostly; if I take it easy and rest I will have enough energy (I would force myself!)

My mum is going to help with DS (single parent) so I can get as much rest as possible.

It came on (the symptoms) yesterday and Weds or even Thurs is 6 days away... that must be plenty of time

Wear a scarf, don't cough and try nto to sneeze, and it'll be harder for anyone else to get it.
Between now and then drink as many hot drinks as you can, honey and lemon type things, apparently they kill germs take much vitamin C, get as much sleep as possible.

LyraSilvertinsel · 07/12/2007 21:24

High dose vitamin C tablets can reduce the length and severity of a cold/flu, according to an 'expert' on the telly last week. You could also buy one of those alcohol hand gels to minimise the risk of passing on germs that way.

If you really had flu you would be be in bed.

Alambil · 07/12/2007 21:27

I am in bed

have been there all day.

Will get some vit C stuff and rest lots, and not cough when out on Thursday!

"People with flu are usually infectious a day before symptoms start and remain infectious for approximately 5 days after the start of the flu symptoms."
