To have applied for a second job?

I have a full time professional career that pays a healthy salary of 40k. I am saving hard trying to get onto the housing ladder and have applied for casual work which I could do at evenings or weekends, supporting patients at the local hospital by helping them pick up prescriptions and driving them home etc. It requires no qualifications other than a driving license and people skills, which I have.

I was really excited about applying because if would be perfect for me to build up some savings, but now feel guilty. If I get it, I would be taking a job that a hard-pressed student or low-qualified person could have done. I already have a good job, is it greedy to look for another such as this?

AIBU to have applied for the job and to accept it if I am offered it?

If you need the money then work as many hours as you want to! Well done.
There might be more than one job available also, and it won’t be forever.

How much will you take home per hour after tax and NI? YANBU to get a second job, but not sure it will be worth it.

Make sure your current employer allows a second job, some dont.

I have a good job 9-5 Mon-fri, run my own business at the weekends and also do a support worker role evenings and weekends- why would you feel guilty? There is a massive shortage of workers currently in industries such as hospitality and social care, there are enough jobs to go round!
