To ask if you can get a quiet boiler?

Boiler is in a cupboard in DD room. She complains everytime it's on that it makes loud noises. It's 12 years old so not that old (or is that old???).

It's driving us nuts all her complaining.

Can you get a quiet boiler? Does our boiler need replacing? Can I come live with you?

@goingslowfornow

I'm wondering if I should just get moved?

Maybe that will help.

That's more labour than replacing it in the same location, so could end up being no cheaper, and will leave you with an aging boiler. And putting a boiler in a bedroom is often a last resort, meaning whoever installed the current one considered other locations, but for one reason or another they all created difficulties.

These days, i agree, my parents still have the original boiler that was in the house when ut was built in tbe 1960,s

Ours was fitted in 1973.

Excellent, they were clearly made to last in days gone by👌

Ours was fitted in 2005 and touch wood, still going strong! Although every year for the past 7yrs (since we’ve had the house) the guy who comes to service it says we need a new one!

Yes we've got a Worcester Bosch and you can't hear it

Mmmmdanone · 05/10/2021 20:29

Worcester bosch here too and I can't believe how quiet it is compared to our last one. I think 12 years old is pretty ancient for a boiler.

They don't make them like they used to! 12-15 years is average for a modern boiler.

OP boilers in bedrooms are a bad idea for loads of reasons, noise being one, risk being another, I assume you have a CO detector? When you replace it, please consider moving it. If it's disrupting your child's sleep it's not good (and they are loud). Plus if you ever come to sell the house boilers in bedrooms really put people off.

I've just had a new boiler. I do think it's quite noisy and wouldn't like it in a bedroom.

Thanks everyone. Clearly have to tackle the location. I'm getting someone in to assess and give options. DD safety is paramount as well as her ability to sleep ok
