AIBU to ask if anyone has a part time and full time job?

Things have changed recently here and despite being a 2 income household we are back to the merry go round that is living month to month.

Despite having a reasonable job and my partner also having the same we have little spare each month.

With Christmas and birthdays coming up, I am becoming increasingly worried about not having a safety net.

I have tried unsuccessfully to find a part time evening/weekend role but people are claiming I am either too qualified or they don't trust that I am committed to the role.

Has anyone managed this? How?

I do a lot of cat sitting through Cat in a Flat. I always make just enough to cover a holiday, my nieces birthdays and Christmas presents. I generally do it before or after work, or during my lunch hour if only one visit is needed and I am working from home that day.

School holidays, Easter and Christmas are always good for bookings.

Years ago I used to do Xmas retail temping jobs on top of my full time job. I do not recommend doing that if the shop opens on boxing day at 5am though Confused

I used to do part time at a supermarket whilst working full time for the NHS.
I had 2 set shifts but could get overtime if I wanted it.
I quite enjoyed it, I ended up with regular customer coming to see me at my till.

Have you looked into babysitting? It won’t be as regular hours as a proper job but it might fit in with your home life easier.

If you're looking for evening work I bet a lot of theatres will be looking for evening ushers as panto season starts. I've seen a few listings for that locally and I'm not in London.

I used to. I worked for an insurance company full time. 9 to 5.30 weekdays and I also worked part time in a pub. I'd work a few evenings during the week and maybe a full day in the weekend or do the Friday and Saturday afternoon/evening shift. Some weeks I'd not have a day off work, so work 7 days, others I'd work long days etc.

I'd left my dh so needed more money and I also used the local pub job as a social scene too. Really enjoyed it but it was hard work some weeks.
