To still be pissed off about the way my employer treated me

It's all legal as I've spoken to ACAS, but that doesn't make me feel any better. In summary, I was poached via LinkedIn, big promises. During the hiring process they never gave me a job spec (first red flag)... After a couple of months I already wanted our because the job wasn't what they told me it would be and it was incredibly stressful. Anywho, soldiered on because it was decent pay. Obviously the company is running our of money and they're losing customers too (another red flag). In one week two big accounts threatened to leave us. I was made redundant that same week, via email! Today I got my final payslip and guess what, they discounted two days I had already booked as annual leave, even though I was put on gardening leave! I'm fuming, even though I know they can 100% do it. I just feel like they kicked me with absolutely zero compassion.

Unfortunately there are no feelings in business and if they’re losing money they will obviously save wherever they can.

Terribleluck · 04/10/2021 14:34

Yes, I understand the "no feelings" and I was the "most expensive" employee, but I think a call would have been a lot better.

I think this would be the least of my worries!

I’d be worrying about getting a new job and whether my savings will cover the mortgage and bills until I get a new job.

RunnerDuck2020 · 04/10/2021 15:07

That’s shocking to do it via email! I would be really pissed off too.

Good luck with your new job search, hopefully will find a better job working for employers who treat you well.

We have enough savings for about 18 months, but I do want to get a job ASAP. Although I think my number one priority is that the salary has to pay enough

I don’t understand how you would take a job without a full JD abs doing due diligence on a company.

I would expect any senior person coming to interview to check out companies house.

I’ve cancelled interviews (for me) where the finances were shaky.

If they didn’t behave professionally when hiring it’s a pretty sure thing they won’t when firing.

Chalk it up to experience and move on.

Very valid points @merry
