So got up this morning, went into the utility to put a wash on as you do. I saw something out the corner of my eye and glanced over and saw a tail... backed out of the room and ran back in to take this photo. What the hell is this? A mouse a baby rat?!?!?! How do I get rid of It Sad

So update, still not caught any of the wankers. But my little yorkie was very interested in my sons room in the corner, so I ripped up some floorboards and found some droppings and felt a very strong breeze... off to find the silicon gun Envy

Oh god. Yeah I spent a fortune on plastic storage boxes. Everything is boxed in now. I hope you have success tonight. I usually caught them in the night.

So I cracked and poison has now been put down, I do feel bad but the thought of them crawling over my son in his cot at night has sent me over the edge...

Anything ?

We’ve had a similar problem recently, I went straight in with the poison and got one. I left pre baited poison traps out and nothing for months, then one day I went into the kitchen and a dead mouse was lying on the floor! I think it had eaten some poison, left the trap and died a few inches away. I made my husband check under the units and he found 3 more that had obviously done the same thing! He took plasterboard off and patched up any spaces with wire wool and expanding foam before replacing the plaster. We have left down the d fashioned traps with peanut butter but been a couple of weeks now and nothing. We live near fields, and our neighbours were also demolishing and old garage so they may have come from there.

That is 100% not a rat. Have kept many pet rats and that is definitely not one.

Please, please don't use poison, it's a horrifically slow and painful death for any animal. At least a trap is instantaneous.

Burning the house down is the only only sensible thing to do really 🤣😂

JupiterWeb · 07/10/2021 09:01

So... we also went belt and braces and bought some big cheese mouse traps which are so sensitive if you breath on them they snap! Caught 3 in one night on Tuesday... didn't catch any last night! I am not naive enough to think there was only 3.

It’s a good start though! Have you checked all your cupboards for droppings etc? Made sure all your food is in tubs? They’d been in a bag of flour in my cupboard - I had to clean out the place with bleach and decant stuff into tubs.

JupiterWeb · 07/10/2021 16:23

Yeah all the kickboards are off and it's being hoovered and bleached everyday. My problem now is that I turned the oven on and omg the smell of mice urine made me gag... pulled oven out and will now clean in there really worried its living in the fucking oven now.
